No Buy Makeup Challenge

Image
Over the years I have accumulated more makeup than I would like to admit. And unfortunately, a lot of it is very similar. A have a lot of blushes, highlighters and a lot of eyeshadows. I do have quite a bit that has been sitting. Whether I haven't gotten to it yet and haven't had a chance to do a review on it. There's just quite a lot and it's definitely time to make a change. I rationalized it by only purchasing items on sale or it's a subscription box of samples only (Ipsy) so clearly it's okay. But in reality I was just getting too much and not knowing when to stop. Overconsumption at its finest.  I'm grateful to my boyfriend for many reasons and last year he pointed out to me how my eyeshadow palettes all look alike to him. I, of course, shrugged it off at first but then I started opening all my palettes and seeing just how much I enjoy the same type of color scheme. There's nothing wrong with that, however, what is wrong is having so many palettes t...

Sephora | Metallic Pigment Palette Review

Image
Product Summary: Amp up your glow with this metallic pigment palette. Light reflecting metallics in light pink, peach and bronze are perfect for highlighting cheekbones, inner eyes and brow bone. Chrome, gold and foiled ruby add bold pops of unexpected color to any look and can be applied as highlight, eyeshadow and even blush. Soft, pigmented formula blends seamlessly into skin for an eye catching, amped up metallic sheen. Cost: $9.  ***Not cruelty free*** I have had this Sephora palette collecting dust for I don’t know how long now. It seemed like a great deal at the time, 6 pigments for only $9. However, it looked ‘boring’ in comparison to other eyeshadow palettes I have reviewed in the past. But man was I so wrong! I have been easing closer to palettes with multiple uses for both eyes and the face. This palette is absolutely amazing! Especially, the shades!  The bottom row I like to mix all the shades together and apply it on my cheekbones. I can use this palette as ...

Violet Voss | Glamingo Pro Face Palette (Review)

Image
Product Summary: The glamingo face palette features a blissful selection of colorfully-feminine blushes and bronzers, as well as blindingly-glowing highlighters. Inspired by the beautiful colours of the tropics, this collection of travel must have shades is everything you need for any event. Full price is $60 but I bought it on sale at Sephora for $30.  ***Cruelty free*** This has surprisingly been a fun palette to play with! It's hard to find a palette where I can use all the shades for what they are intended for and I'm happy to say that has changed with this palette.  This palette is best to use during the summer because that's when I can use all the shades. This past winter I've stuck to using the two blushes as well as the highlighter (white sand) they are the more flattering shades to use while I'm at my palest.  I love that this palette is so versatile, you have warm and cool tone shades. They are multifunctional, you can use this palette to do your face mak...

It Cosmetics | Bye Bye Under Eye Full Coverage Anti-Aging Waterproof Concealer (Review)

Image
Product Summary: Developed with plastic surgeons, this award-winning anti-aging concealer is highly pigmented, never creases or cracks, and truly covers everything! It effectively conceals the look of skin imperfections including dark circles, bags, redness, hyperpigmentation, broken capillaries, age spots and discoloration. Costs $36. I have two shades, I have light and light fair.  I ended up receiving this item in a Ipsy glam bag which is a monthly beauty subscription service where you get 5 items from sample to full size for around 20$ Canadian. Click  here to check them out. ***Cruelty free ❤*** With its claim of covering everything and never creasing definitely intrigued me. Covering my under eyes has been a constant battle over the past several years. I tried several different ways of applying the concealer; with my fingers, concealer brush and a beauty sponge. With a concealer brush and fingers a little goes a long way. Especially, with how thick it is, you can g...

You can  click here to check out Ipsy. ***Not Cruelty-Free 👎👎*** Summer time= hell for Amanda. I love the colder seasons over the warmer ones because during summer I feel like I'm suffocating in the heat. And during the summer my face produces much more oil than it normally does during fall/winter. I prefer to keep the amount of makeup on my face to a minimum so I first apply this primer to my face. A little does ...

I ended up receiving this item in a Ipsy glam bag which is a monthly beauty subscription service where you get 4-5 items from sample to full size for around 20$ Canadian. You can  click here to check out Ipsy. ***Cruelty-free ❤👍*** I tend to have really dry hands, especially, in the knuckle area because I wash my hands very often. And since Covid-19 hit, I've tripled the amount of times I wash my hands. My hands have neve...

Maybelline | Great Lash Lots Of Lashes Washable Mascara in Very Black (Review)

Image
Product Summary: The exclusive great little grabber gets to each and every lash with precision for lots of volume from corner to corner. Volume builds with each coat, no clumps and no mess. It is also contact lens safe. Costs around 6.99$. From the very first application on my lashes, they clumped together! I don't know where the no clump claim came from but here I am trying to make my lashes look fuller and longer, instead I get a clumpy mess. One application and it is a mess, if I try for a second application it's a hot mess and I get spider lashes. Definitely, not a cute look. It's so frustrating and I have to brush my lashes apart with a spoolie but then I get a lot of fall out on my upper cheeks. This product is a mess to use from start to finish. It does make my lashes look fuller but the process and hard work to get there is simply not worth it. *** Not Cruelty Free 👎👎*** Mascara should be the easiest part about a makeup application so when a product like...

Physicians Formula: Concealer Twins in Yellow Light (Review)

Image
Product Summary: This 2-in-1 concealer conveniently joins together a colour corrective and a light flesh tone cream concealer to help you achieve flawless looking skin. Yellow hides dark under-eye circles and other bluish skin discolorations while light covers yellow and any minor skin imperfections. It is a gentle creamy formula, transfer-resistant, water-resistant and glides on smoothly to a velvety finish. It is also hypoallergenic, fragrance free, dermatologist approved and non-comedogenic  which means this product won't cause blocked pores that lead to black heads and pimples developing. This product is priced at around 10$. ***Cruelty Free 👍💖*** The one thing I truly love about this product is that it is long-lasting. I can have a 10 hour work shift and I can feel safe knowing that it doesn't wear off. I end the day looking as good as I started it. Of course, it does crease but not as bad as other concealer's I've used before. For me it...

Flower Beauty: Double Take Eye Marker & Creme Shadow In Steel A Kiss (Review)

Image
Product Summary: -Two popular Flower Beauty formulas in one package -Expertly apply non-creasing-creamy eyeshadow formula with ease -Felt-tip eye marker allows precision and control for flawless eye liner application -Creme eyeshadow formulated with a moisturizing complex to help sooth and protect delicate skin (Unfortunately, I was not able to find a price for this product) ***Cruelty Free***  Regarding the eyeliner; it is long lasting and pigmented. It will last throughout the whole day but it is not waterproof and if you do touch your eyeliner it will easily be removed. So, avoid using this when it's raining and don't think you'll still look cute after crying because you will resemble a raccoon.  I usually don't use chubby eyeliner's so it did take some practice to successfully do a winged liner. But once you do get used to this liner it becomes pretty easy to apply. The one thing I do have to remark is that both the liner and creamy eyesh...

Not tested on animals 👍*********** I do have to say I am quite a fan of their cream formula. It applies on smoothly and evenly. It's not patchy but quite pigmented as can be seen from the swatch below and pigment is something I love to see in my highlighters! The formula is quite nice because it doesn't dry...
