Divine By Blood (Partholon #3) By: P.C Cast (Book Review)

(((This review will contain spoilers)))
Summary: Conceived in a lie and trapped in a tree throughout her gestation, Morrigan's birth was truly magical. After that start, she spent the next eighteen years raised as a normal girl in Oklahoma. upon discovering the truth of her heritage, her rage and grief take on a power of their own, carrying her back to the world of Partholon. Yet, instead of being respected as the daughter of the Goddess Incarnate, Morrigan feels like a shunned outsider. In her desperation to belong to Partholon, she confronts forces she can't fully understand  or control. And soon a strange darkness draws closer...

Yet again, I am faced with a plot-less story from Cast. If there is no main goal or antagonist in the story then the story will drag on and be dis-interesting. And no! Defeating literally evil itself at the very end of the book is not called a plot line.

In this book, we follow Morrigan's life from when she was born all the way till she is a y…

It Cosmetics Brow Power (Review)

Hey everyone! If you don't follow me on Twitter then go a head and do so by clicking to the right that says Twitter and you'll be directed to my Twitter account. (Yayyy lol I'm so lame)
So I first received this Universal eyebrow pencil in universal taupe in my June ipsy glam bag. It is full sized and contains 0.07g of product while being worth a whooping $24. Actually I think I have a sample of the brow power but it's not clear on their website. I wish it said the amount of product each pencil contains.  One side as you can see below contains the actual product that you twist up (I appreciate that because I hate pencil's that you have to sharpen) and the other side is a spoolie to comb through your brows.

Here is the brow pencil swatched. I cannot express to you how hard it was to swatch this eyebrow pencil! I had to layer my swatch many times but the great thing about it is when filling in your brows you can slowly fill then in. I do have to say the strokes were…

Divine By Choice (Partholon #2) By: P.C. Cast (Book Review)

(((This review will contain spoilers)))
Summary:  Shannon Parker has finally come to terms with life in the mythical world of Partholon. She loves her centaur husband, her connection to the goddess Epona and the pampering that comes with both! She's almost forgotten her old life on Earth, especially, when she discovers she's pregnant...Then a sudden burst of power sends her back to Oklahoma. Without magic, Shannon can't return to Partholon and so she needs to find help. Trouble is, it might take the form of a man as tempting as her husband. And along the way she'll discover that being divine by mistake is a lot easier than being divine by choice.
The first book was a great joy for me to read and as for the sequel well let's just say that it was a little bit predictable. Shannon being pregnant came to no surprise to me because in most stories once the main evil is vanquished and the heroine finds her true love next comes a pregnancy. Of course, once Shannon is set…

Sephora Collection | Cushion Glossy Eyeliner in Ultra Black (Review)

Product Summary:
This glossy liquid eyeliner, dispensed through a cushion-like sponge is an innovation! Paired with Sephora classic must have angled liner brush #90, this fether light, quick drying formula, gives you richly pigmented precision for any desired look! Price: $18.50

***Not Cruelty Free 👎👎***
It seems I have no luck with eyeliners as of late. I have a string of terrible eyeliners and with every eyeliner I review, the experience gets worse and worse. It's becoming exhausting for me having to have so many shitty experiences with these liners. And it seems this never ending liner tragedy will continue.
This Sephora liner didn't fair too well either. The first few applications were so difficult, the formula dries too quickly to do a perfect winged liner. You basically have 10-15 seconds to apply the liner before it dries and when it dries it's a bitch and a half to go over and perfect what you already applied. I thought maybe if I changed eyeliner brushes it wo…

Biorace | Intense Hydrating Spirulina Mask (Review)

Product Summary:
This mask hydrates, replenishes, and calms the overall skin that is dry, tired and sensitive. Delivering results comparable to those of a serum, it helps to energize for a healthy glow while refreshing, soothing and moisturizing skin. Costs around $2.50 per sheet mask.

I received this item in my Ipsy bag which is a beauty subscription service. For more information on Ipsy you can click here.

***Not cruelty-free 👎👎***
I normally don't use many sheet masks or too many serums because I have extremely sensitive skin. I have had instances where my skin got so irritated that I had a huge red rash all over my face and neck for several days. Thus, my hesitance on using such products. As of late, I have been tired and more stressed than usual and that takes a toll on my skin. When I initially put the mask on my face, it did start stinging and I was afraid this would be like all the other products and cause a rash on my face. I waited a few moments and the tingling sen…

Divine By Mistake (Partholon #1) By: P.C. Cast (Book Review)

(((There will be spoilers in this review))) Summary: The only excitement Shannon Parker expects while on summer vacation is a little shopping. But when an antique vase calls to her, she finds herself transported to Partholon, where she's treated like a goddess. A very temperamental goddess... Somehow Shannon has stepped into another's role as the Goddess incarnate of Epona. And while there's an upside, what woman doesn't like lots of pampering? It also comes with a ritual marriage to a centaur and threats against her new people. oh, and everyone disliking her because they think she's her double. Somehow Shannon needs to figure out how to get back to Oklahoma without being killed, married to a horse or losing her mind...
This is one of the best stories I have read in a long while. It's different, innovating and beyond enthralling. Cast's writing style is relatable and easily readable. And she knows when to be funny! There were many moment where I had to sto…

Maybelline | Great Lash Lots Of Lashes Washable Mascara in Very Black (Review)

Product Summary:
The exclusive great little grabber gets to each and every lash with precision for lots of volume from corner to corner. Volume builds with each coat, no clumps and no mess. It is also contact lens safe. Costs around 6.99$.

From the very first application on my lashes, they clumped together! I don't know where the no clump claim came from but here I am trying to make my lashes look fuller and longer, instead I get a clumpy mess. One application and it is a mess, if I try for a second application it's a hot mess and I get spider lashes. Definitely, not a cute look. It's so frustrating and I have to brush my lashes apart with a spoolie but then I get a lot of fall out on my upper cheeks. This product is a mess to use from start to finish. It does make my lashes look fuller but the process and hard work to get there is simply not worth it.

*** Not Cruelty Free 👎👎***
Mascara should be the easiest part about a makeup application so when a product like this o…

Divine Beginnings (Partholon #0.5) By: P.C Cast (Book Review)

((( This review will contain spoilers)))
Summary: Go back in time, fifty years before the events of New York Times bestselling author P.C. Cast's Partholon books...
Something isn't right at Guardian Castle, and Aine can't figure out what. As Healer, she's supposed to be making things better, but there's a darkness that can't be brightened. And then Aine finds an injured Fomorian--winged, dark, blood-thirsty and inherently evil. Or is he? Because there's something about Tegan that Aine can't resist...and once they've shared blood, Aine realizes that everything she's always believed is going to be cast aside....
As far as short stories go I really enjoyed this one. I read the first three books in this series almost ten years ago and I absolutely loved them. I don't remember much of the plot other than there was a bunch of centaurs and goddesses. So, this prequel is a nice introduction into the world of Partholon.
We are introduced to Aine w…

A Shiver Of Light (Merry Gentry #9) By: Laurell K. Hamilton (Book Review)

(((There will be spoilers in this review)))
Summary: Merry Gentry, ex-private detective and full time princess, is now the mother of triplets, a rarity in the high ranks of faerie. And not everyone is happy about it, including Taranis, King of Light and Illusion. He's using the human courts to sue for visitation rights, claiming that one of the babies is his. To save herself and her children, Merry will use the most dangerous powers in all of faerie: a god of death, a warrior known as the Darkness, the Killing Frost, and a king of nightmares. They are her lovers, and her dearest loves, and they will face down the might of the high courts of faerie while trying to keep war from spreading to innocent humans in Los Angeles, who are in danger of becoming collateral damage.
First question! Who was the fucking idiot that wrote this summary? Because the summary comes no where close to even describing the book itself. The summary is what I wish the book was; enticing, imaginative and le…

Divine Misdemeanors (Merry Gentry #8) By: Laurell K. Hamilton (Book Review)

(((There will be spoilers)))
Summary: You may know me best as Meredith Nic Essus, princess of faerie. Or perhaps as Merry Gentry, Los Angeles private eye. To protect my unborn children, I have turned my back on the crown, choosing exile in the human world with my beloved Frost and Darkness. Yet I cannot abandon my people. Someone is killing the fey, which has left the LAPD baffled and my guardsmen and me deeply disturbed. I thought I'd left the blood and politics behind in my own turbulent realm. But now I realize that evil knows no borders, and that nobody lives forever even if they're magical.
The first thing out of my mouth when I finished this book was "this was disappointing". And yes, it was extremely disappointing. Like I have mentioned before in a previous review, Swallowing Darkness for me felt like the final novel only because the main plot was resolved and came to an end. Even the final chapter of that novel felt like the closing of the series. When the m…

True Blood | Season 2 Episode 3: Scratches (Review)

(((This review will contain spoilers)))
This episode starts right where we left off in the previous episode with Bill yelling at Sookie for her irresponsible decision to let Jessica see her family without realizing the potential consequences.  Honestly, what does Bill see in Sookie? Aside from the fact that she's the only woman who finds him attractive. One thing I really need to point out is the terrible acting when it came to Bill 'driving'. Steering left and right harshly and quickly is not how you drive unless you're having a seizure at the wheel. I hate seeing this type of 'driving' in movies and TV shows because it is beyond unrealistic.
The creepy creature with the claws and bull mask attacking Sookie reminds me of the Minoans. They were heavyset on bull imagery but there was no evidence of them wearing bull masks during rituals. They were mainly situated on the Greek islands, primarily, Crete thousands of years ago. If the bull creature is connected i…

Swallowing Darkness (Merry Gentry #7) By: Laurell K. Hamilton (Book Review)

(((This review will contain spoilers))) Summary: I am Meredith, princess of faerie, and at long last, I am with child;twins, fathered by my royal guard. Now I must stay alive to see my children born, as conspirators from every court plot against me and mine. They seek to strip my guards, my lovers, from me by poisoned word or cold steel. But I still have supporters, and even friends, among the goblins and the sluagh who will stand by me. Those who would defy and destroy me are destined to pay a terrible price. To protect what is mine, I will sacrifice anything, even if it means waging a battle against my darkest enemies and making the most momentous decision ever made as princess of faerie.
In this novel, so much has happened in very little time with a lot of story development taking place and I feel would have been the perfect way to end the series. The fact that there are 2 more books after this already published and more being worked on to me means one of two things. 1, Merry'…

True Blood | Season 2 Episode 2: Keep This Party Going (Review)

(((This review will contain spoilers)))
This episode contains a lot of scenes that are very much night and day to each other We've got Jason at the Light of Day conference already making an enemy/friend with Luke who envy's Jason's charismatic personality and his closeness with the Newlin's. We also have Sam at Merlotte's dealing with the new crappy waitress Daphne, running his business and Maryann always showing up everywhere he is. On the flip side, we have poor Lafayette fighting to stay alive while trying to escape this terrible nightmare. I do have to applaud the phenomenal work of the leg prop! It looked gory and very realistic as well.
Unfortunately, it does get worse for Lafayette. He successfully frees himself from the torture contraption but he ends up getting shot by none other than Ginger. To top it all off, Pam, Eric and, Chow feed from Lafayette and we are left wondering if we will ever see him again. By the way, Eric's new hairstyle is a winner…

Ciaté London | Starstruck Double-Ended Stamp Liquid Liner (Review)

Product Summary: When it's festival season it means to experiment with out of the box looks. It's great using the star stamp liner for a faux tattoo effect on the face, wrist or literally anywhere. Feeling like creating more of a classic cat eye? Just flip it over and use the ultra-fine precision tip end to get fierce flicks, keep your lines and shapes in place. The inky black formula won't streak or smudge. This all-star formula is vegan and cruelty-free. It is limited edition and costs around 17-20$. I ended up getting this liner from Ipsy a beauty subscription service for more info on them click here.

***Cruelty-free 👍👍***
The last review I did on this company was for their eyeliner (Fierce Flicks eye liner) and I did not like the liner at all. It wasn't waterproof nor long lasting. And unfortunately for me, it seems they used the exact formula for this liquid liner as well. It is such a pain to apply this liner! I've become sort of an expert on applying eye…

***Not cruelty-free👎👎***
During the morning when I'm getting ready if I see my skin needs a pick me up then I gravitate to this product to even out my skin tone. I wouldn't call this a primer but more of a CC cream. For a "primer", it is super pigmented just like a BB/CC cream. It blends into the skin really well leaving a nice glowy complexion as seen from the picture below. The onl…

A Lick Of Frost (Merry Gentry #6) By: Laurell K. Hamilton (Book Review)

(((There will be spoilers)))
Summary: I am Meredith Gentry, princess and heir apparent to the throne of faerie. To be crowned queen, I must become pregnant and continue the royal bloodline. If I fail, my aunt, Queen Andais, will be free to do what she most desires: install her twisted son, Cel as monarch...and kill me. My royal guards  surround me, and my best loved- my Darkness and my Killing Frost are always beside me, sworn to make love to me and protect me. Even now, we are forced into exile in the mortal world, hoping to outrun the gathering shadows of court intrigue. But King Taranis, powerful and dangerous ruler of faerie's Seelie Court, has leveled accusations against my noble guards of a heinous crime. I know that Taranis's true target is me. He tried to kill me when I was a child, and now I fear his intentions are far more terrifying.
Despite, a good 50 percent of the book being mirror calls from one monarch to another, there was a whole lot of story development an…
