Ipsy July Glam Bag 2016 | First Impressions

Image
What happens when you live a hectic life, starting University and moving? You end up posting first impressions really late! I solemnly swear that I will do my best to hurry up with these first impressions.  +ipsy   is a beauty subscription service that for $10 or $20 for us Canadians a month you will receive 4-5 beauty products ranging from sample to full sizes. This is beneficial to those who want to try out different and new beauty products that you otherwise wouldn't necessarily have been able to find in drugstores. Plus the value of the the whole glam bag (all the products) you receive are higher than the $10 or $20 that you would pay. For more information on Ipsy you can click here. For this month the theme is Hot Summer Nights.  1- Elizabeth Mott:   Show Me Your Cheeks Blush in Peach Pink. This universally flattering and foolproof shade leaves an iridescent finish with subtle sparkle. This long-lasting blush builds a glow that goes from subtle sheen to full-o

L'Oréal: Visible Lift Foundation (Review)

Image
Description: This foundation is meant to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. While also, enhancing skin-tone. It is medium to full coverage and leaves a soft matte finish to the face. I can't seem to find this foundation on L'Oréal's website but they are still being sold in stores such as Wal-mart, pharmacies etc. This foundation retails for about $16 but I got it on sale for $1.90. I have the colour 105 nude beige. Strangely, this foundation smells like sunscreen.  ***Not cruelty free 👎*** Not surprisingly, Nude Beige is slightly too dark for my skin tone but using a light concealer in the areas I want to highlight helps me make this foundation work for me. Almost like reverse-contouring. Instead of using a contour colour over a foundation that matches my skin tone, I simply skipped a step and put a small amount of foundation all over my face. With my concealer I highlight my under eyes, middle of my forehead, chin, top of cheekbones and above my

Probelle: The Texture Collection (Review)

Image
(((I received the whole texture collection from Probelle to review.))) The textured collection from +Probelle Beauty  contains a unique pigmented formula allowing the nail polish to dry with a textured finish. Apparently, the pigments in the formulation allow for a longer lasting manicure and it does not need a top coat. You do, however, need to use a base coat for the polish to adhere to. There are 10 nail polishes in this collection and each polish costs $7. The collection includes the following colours; Textured Hot Pink (0311) Textured Light Pink (0312) Textured Purple (0407) Textured Dark Blue (0506) Textured Light Green (904)  Textured Dark Green (0905) Textured Turquoise (1002) Textured Yellow (1104)  Textured Black (1202) What I do seem to find strange is the fact that no where on Probelle's website does it state what type or the information packet that they sent me states what type of texture these polishes leave on the nails. Unless the world has changed

Tarte: Not So Slick Oil-Absorbing Blotting Papers (Review)

Image
Description: This pack of naturally-derived papers that are meant to blot away oil and contains 50 oil-blotting papers. These blotting sheets are vegan and are meant to remove shine to keep the skin matte without disturbing makeup. These are great for touch ups. They cost $13 which are how much I paid them for. For more information you can check  +tarte cosmetics  website  right here. ****This product is cruelty-free 👍**** I really like the packaging, it's super cute and with an initial glance I wouldn't of known that it contained blotting sheets. With the consistency and the color of the blotting sheets it's hard to tell which areas of the sheet are covered in oil and which areas are not.  I completely dislike the texture of the blotting sheets because they are hard to work with and they make my face feel uncomfortable. Plus, they leave my fingers feeling greasy and disgusting. Unfortunately, I have days where my face is really oily and these papers don

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 (Movie Review)

Image
((((((This Review Contains Spoilers))))))))) Summary: Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) teams up with her closest friends and allies, including Peeta (Josh Hutcherson), Gale (Liam Hemsworth) and Finnick for the ultimate mission. All together, they leave District 13 to liberate the citizens of Panem and to assassinate President Snow, who is consumed with the thought of killing Katniss. However, what lies ahead is a long road of traps, dangerous enemies and moral choices that will determine the future of a Nation.  Opening Scene: This is the problem that I have with movie franchises that decide to divide the final part of a story into multiple movies. Or in simpler terms, dividing up one movie into multiple parts. For me, I feel like I have to re-watch the previous movie because I'm not up to date with the story. With opening scenes you have to orchestrate them just right or we the audience feel as if we are being dropped in the middle of the story. The opening scene

Sephora Collection: Beautiful Crush Blockbuster Palette (Review)

Image
This limited edition  +Sephora  collection palette costs $38 and contains 72 eyeshadows, 18 cream eyeliners, 32 lip-glosses and six blushes. A total of 128 eye, lip and cheek colours for an infinite number of looks. For more on Sephora's collection you can check out their  website here. I bought this palette to spoil myself for my 20th birthday and I wanted a palette that had variety for whenever I want to do fantasy makeup looks and for everyday makeup wear as well. I also wanted more for my buck. So, that's why I also wanted this palette. Plus, I've noticed not many people have reviewed this palette. Guess the beauty community hasn't hyped up this palette yet. Or ever will hype it up. I do find it a bit annoying that there are no names on the shades but I can live with that.  ***This Sephora Collection Palette was not tested on animals👍*** Blushes: They are extremely pigmented so I had to use a light hand while applying the blushes to my cheeks. The b

Oval Brushes | Worth the Hype?

Image
What is the one thing that has really stood out in the beauty industry for the past year? Oval brushes. Whether you are a part of the beauty community or not, you most certainly have heard or seen oval brushes. They seem to have become a vital part in creating makeup tutorials. No matter where I look in social media; when it comes to beauty, oval brushes are at the front-line for makeup brushes. And after buying a set off Amazon and trying them out I realize why they are so popular.  From what I can remember from the start of the oval brush craze, I believe that it all started with Artis coming out with newly and oddly shaped brushes. Or oval shaped makeup brushes. I thought that they were sold on  +Sephora   but it seems that that's not the case. However, you can check out Artis on their website  right here.   I usually never buy into the hype or what is currently 'popular' in the beauty community because after a while everyone covering the 'it product' their

For this month's theme it is Rebel Rebel. At this point I'm going to stop stating the obvious in saying that these themes do not match the items because they never do. And I doubt they ever will. 1- Delectable By Cake Beauty:  Everything Balm This multi-purpose balm does it all from lips to fingertips. This balm can moisturize the skin, repair cuticles, seals split ends, brightens dark circles and more. It absorbs quickly on skin and hair without feeling greasy. The sample I have is

Neutrogena: Healthy Skin Instant Tone Corrector (Review)

Image
***Not Cruelty Free 👎*** This silky, lightweight formula is meant to smooth the skin and correct complexion in seconds. This formula contains essential soy which is "proven" to correct and brighten skin tone while also reducing the look of dark spots, pores and wrinkles. It also helps make-up to be applied smoothly and last longer. The SPF in the tone corrector helps the skin looking healthy. It can be worn alone or with makeup. It contains SPF 15 and is for all skin types. This product costs around $20 but I got it for a $1! You can checkout Neutrogena's website  here.   Essentially, this is a tone corrector and it can be used as a primer after moisturizer. When I read the description on the box I was praying to God that this would work because as I've previously stated in the past few blog posts I've written; this summer my skin has been freaking out with pimples and in consequence I have dark spots all over my chin area where I previously had pimples

Get Hard: Movie Review

Image
Summary: When obscenely rich hedge-fund manager James is convicted of fraud and sentenced to a stretch in San Quentin, the judge gives him one months to get his affairs in order. Knowing he won't survive more than a few minutes in prison on his own. James desperately turns to Darnell, a black businessman who's never even had a parking ticket, for help. As Darnell puts James through the wringer, both learn that they were wrong about many things, including each other.  Can I just start off by saying that Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart together are an amazing duo? Both of these actors are funny and hilarious on their own but together they make a phenomenal team and movie! Basically, this movie is about Will Ferrell's character getting charged with fraud and has 30 days before he has to go to prison. So, he asks Kevin Harts character to help him get him ready for prison. Funny thing is, Harts character never went to prison.  There were a lot of stereotypes in this movie b

Ipsy May Glam Bag 2016 | First Impressions

For the month of May the theme is Destination Chic which matches the card and the bag. But it doesn't really match with the month of May. Isn't travel more during June and July? Anyway, the theme never really impacts or matches the items in the bag.  1- Pacifica:  Natural Mineral Coconut Eye Shadow Trio Apparently, this trio was curated for Ipsy which would explain why I can't find this item on Pacifica's website. This trio contains 3 shimmer shades that are named Skinny

X-Men: First Class (Movie Review)

Image
(Will Contain Spoilers.) Summary: Before Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr were known as Professor X and Magneto, they were both two young men who first met in the 1960's during the Cold War and soon become close friends. However, as the world falls close to a nuclear war, Charles and Erik with other fellow mutants must join forces to save humanity. Unfortunately, a nuclear war won't be the only thing tearing these two friends apart. Opening Scene-Poland 1944 This opening scene is the re-enactment of the first ever scene of X-Men (from way back in the first movie). This tells me two things. First, we the audience are being transported into the past and that this movie is a new start to the X-Men franchise while also acknowledging the previous three movies. I found it tender seeing Charles and Raven as children. Especially, seeing how Charles as a young child had such a kind and tender heart. While also having a mother that was never present. But wouldn't someone not

LA ROCHE-POSAY: EFFACLAR A.I. Targeted Breakout Cream Corrector (Review)

Image
This targeted breakout cream corrector from  +La Roche-Posay UK  is meant to penetrate pores to treat imperfections and to help eliminate them faster. This breakout cream is specifically for uncomplicated acne caused by periods, stress, fatigue and the sun which unfortunately has been happening to yours truly. Also, this is meant to even out the skin surface and it can be worn under makeup. This cream costs about $16 depending on where you get it but luckily for me I got it as a gift. I don't know what has been going on with my skin for the past couple of weeks but I have been having pimple problems and I'm obviously not happy about it. I will say that my skin fairs better in the winter/colder weather. This summer I have come to the solid conclusion that I do not enjoy the warm weather aka summer. I don't enjoy being in the sun very much, thus, explaining my pale flesh. I don't like the heat nor the excessive sweating that is tied in with summer. I'm just a winte

L'Oréal: Visible Lift Blur Concealer (Review)

Image
Before going right into this review I would like to let all of you know that I am planning on reviewing a heck of a whole lot more of concealers because I need to find a way to conceal these dirt-bags of under eye circles. They have been the bane of my makeup existence and I need to find some magical concealer made from Unicorn horns and the tears of the stars to conceal this mess. If you guys and gals have any suggestions for me then please with the kindness of your hearts send me an email or comment down below letting me know which concealer will help improve my life.  This visible lift blur concealer by  +L'Oréal  claims to blur the look of lines, spots and under eye circles which to me is exactly the problems I have with my under eyes. I have under eye circles and fine lines which I find for me are hard to conceal. So this concealer is going to have to prove its worth! This concealer contains 20 ml and retails for around $14 but y'all know I didn't pay that! I got

Bite Beauty: Lush Fruit Lip Gloss in Currant (Review)

Image
If you have been following my reviews on Bite Beauty then you will know I am reviewing the third gloss part of the lush fruit lip gloss collection. For those previous reviews you can click  here for the shade Rambutan  and you can click  here for the shade Strawberry.  Do keep in mind that in the future I will try to collectively review the same collection (gloss, lipstick, blush etc) in one post instead of reviewing them individually. This gloss claims to be a highly pigmented vibrant lip gloss with fruit oils and is instantly nutritious for the lips. This lip gloss is 99% natural and is made with real fruit. The full sized gloss costs $25. I have the smaller version of the gloss. Currant is described as a sheer plum and has a high shine finish. It does have a fruit-like smell to it.  Pigmented lips strike again! If you haven't been in the loop about my lips yet well let me bring you right into it. I have naturally pigmented lips that at times makes it difficult to have th

Night At The Museum: Secret Of The Tomb (Movie Review)

Image
(This review will contain spoilers.) Summary: Larry Dalley (Ben Stiller) now the director of Night-time Operations at New York's Natural history museum must find out why the exhibits are behaving strangely, Larry learns that the tablet that brings all the exhibits to life has started to decay. Now it is up to Larry, the help of his son and the exhibits to find out how to prevent the tablet's magic from disappearing.  Opening Scene: We see a father and son back in 1938 in a dig site in Egypt. By accident the son falls into a tomb and we see how the tablet in New York was discovered. Not only do we see the discovery of the tablet but we also see the discovery of Ahkmenrah's tomb and that of his parents. Funny enough this was the start of the circle of information. Of course there is some random guy saying that the tomb mustn't be disturbed or it will be the end of the world! This scene strangely reminds me if The Mummy; anyone else? The father obviously ignor
