Fade Out (The Morganville Vampires #7) By: Rachel Caine (Book Review)

Image
***This review will contain spoilers*** Summary: Without the evil vampire Bishop ruling over the town of Morganville, the resident vampires have made major concessions to the human population. With their newfound freedoms, Claire Danvers and her friends are almost starting to feel comfortable again…Now Claire can actually concentrate on her studies, and her friend Eve joins the local theatre company. But when one of Eve’s castmates goes missing after starting work on a short documentary, Eve suspects the worst. Claire and Eve soon realize that this film project, whose subject is the vampires themselves, is a whole lot bigger—and way more dangerous—than anyone suspected. Another fantastic book in this wonderful series that keeps on giving. The previous one we finally got the big bad Bishop killed and brought back some normalcy in Morganville. So typically, once you kill the big antagonist, it's hard to keep a story going, however, I'm so happy to say this wasn't the case. I...

True Blood |Season 2 Episode 5: Never Let Me Go (Review)

Image
***This review will contain spoilers*** I don't know what is more painful to watch; Sookie in a vampire hotel hallway saying she can read minds when being around vampires that is basically shouting it on the rooftops or her actually believing no vampire will hurt her because she is Bill's human. Longshadow, Malcolm and his crew proved that vampires don't give a shit about which humans belong to which vampires unless that human's vampire is old with a lot of power and authority which Bill does not have. Sookie needs to smarten up cause her being naïve is irritating beyond belief.  Just when I start to think Jason has no redeeming qualities he goes and offers a helping hand to Luke; the douche with the plan to constantly belittle and make Jason seem like the lesser man. But alas Jason is right back to being nothing more than a sex toy for Sarah Newlin. She's not happy in her marriage so in her own twisted, delusional state she convinces Jason that them being sexually...

I ended up receiving this item in a Ipsy glam bag which is a monthly beauty subscription service where you get 4-5 items from sample to full size for around 20$ Canadian. You can  click here to check out Ipsy. ***Cruelty-free ❤👍*** I tend to have really dry hands, especially, in the knuckle area because I wash my hands very often. And since Covid-19 hit, I've tripled the amount of times I wash my hands. My hands have neve...

A Shiver Of Light (Merry Gentry #9) By: Laurell K. Hamilton (Book Review)

Image
(((There will be spoilers in this review))) Summary: Merry Gentry, ex-private detective and full time princess, is now the mother of triplets, a rarity in the high ranks of faerie. And not everyone is happy about it, including Taranis, King of Light and Illusion. He's using the human courts to sue for visitation rights, claiming that one of the babies is his. To save herself and her children, Merry will use the most dangerous powers in all of faerie: a god of death, a warrior known as the Darkness, the Killing Frost, and a king of nightmares. They are her lovers, and her dearest loves, and they will face down the might of the high courts of faerie while trying to keep war from spreading to innocent humans in Los Angeles, who are in danger of becoming collateral damage.  First question! Who was the fucking idiot that wrote this summary? Because the summary comes no where close to even describing the book itself. The summary is what I wish the book was; enticing, imagin...

True Blood | Season 2 Episode 2: Keep This Party Going (Review)

Image
(((This review will contain spoilers))) This episode contains a lot of scenes that are very much night and day to each other. We've got Jason at the Light of Day conference already making an enemy/friend with Luke who envy's Jason's charismatic personality and his closeness with the Newlin's. We also have Sam at Merlotte's dealing with the new crappy waitress Daphne, running his business and Maryann always showing up everywhere he is. On the flip side, we have poor Lafayette fighting to stay alive while trying to escape this terrible nightmare. I do have to applaud the phenomenal work of the leg prop! It looked gory and very realistic as well.  Unfortunately, it does get worse for Lafayette. He successfully frees himself from the torture contraption but he ends up getting shot by none other than Ginger. To top it all off, Pam, Eric and, Chow feed from Lafayette and we are left wondering if we will ever see him again. By the way, Eric's new hairstyle ...

A Lick Of Frost (Merry Gentry #6) By: Laurell K. Hamilton (Book Review)

Image
(((There will be spoilers))) Summary: I am Meredith Gentry, princess and heir apparent to the throne of faerie. To be crowned queen, I must become pregnant and continue the royal bloodline. If I fail, my aunt, Queen Andais, will be free to do what she most desires: install her twisted son, Cel as monarch...and kill me. My royal guards  surround me, and my best loved- my Darkness and my Killing Frost are always beside me, sworn to make love to me and protect me. Even now, we are forced into exile in the mortal world, hoping to outrun the gathering shadows of court intrigue. But King Taranis, powerful and dangerous ruler of faerie's Seelie Court, has leveled accusations against my noble guards of a heinous crime. I know that Taranis's true target is me. He tried to kill me when I was a child, and now I fear his intentions are far more terrifying.  Despite, a good 50 percent of the book being mirror calls from one monarch to another, there was a whole lot of story ...

Mistral's Kiss (Merry Gentry #5) By: Laurell K. Hamilton (Book Review)

Image
***Please be warned that there will be spoilers*** Summary: I am Princess Meredith, trapped in the kingdom of faerie, compelled to conceive a child, an heir to the throne, by engaging some of the realm's most beautiful men. Now Mistral, Queen Andais's new captain of the guard, has risked the Queen's jealous wrath to come to my bed. Our joining has reawakened old magic, mystical power so ancient that no one stands against it and lives...not even my strongest and most favored: my Darkness and my Killing Frost. Not even Mistral himself, my Storm Lord. But because Mistral has helped to bring this magic forth, he may live another day. If I can reclaim control of the fey power that once was, there may be hope for me and my reign in faerie. I might yet quell the dark schemes and subterfuges surrounding me. Though shadows of obsession and conspiracy gather, I may survive.  I'm confused by who wrote and edited this book because the first half was so not the Laurell...

Seduced By Moonlight (Merry Gentry #3) By: Laurell K. Hamilton (Book Review)

Image
((((There will be spoilers included in this review)))) Summary: Meredith's aunt, the Queen of Air and Darkness, is no longer distracted by her usual hobbies. Her obsession has turned unwaveringly to her niece, hiding among humans in Los Angeles. The queen's mission to get Meredith pregnant and beat her cousin Cel to the crown is taking longer than expected. Even though Meredith spends each night with the queen's immortal guards, no child has come of their decadent pleasures. But something else is happening. Enemies are growing in number every day. Meredith's magic surges through her like never before, transforming her in wild and unpredictable ways. And Meredith is just beginning to learn what incredible power she possesses.... Third book in and already we are introduced to new characters, new magicks and unfortunately to Merry; new enemies. It seems that our heroin can never catch a break and has to bleed her own blood to protect those that are most precious to...

True Blood Season 2 | Episode 1: Nothing But The Blood (Review)

Image
(((There will be spoilers included in this review))) Starting season 2 with a grotesque murder, welcome back to Bon Temps! Luckily, the person that was murdered with their heart ripped out stuffed in Andy's car is none other than Miss Jeanette. The woman who gave Tara and her mother exorcisms. But Miss Jeanette ended up being a fake and was faking the exorcisms to scam Tara and her mother out of money. But that leaves a mystery as to where Lafayette is. Which we quickly discover is chained with several other people to a contraption that is straight out from the movie Saw.  I will admit despite Maryann's sick fascination with people who need help, she did end up saying exactly what we all were thinking and wanted to say to Tara's mother. Tara's mother was and still is a terrible person. She only needed Tara when she was an alcoholic but now that she is all better? Passes judgment and turns her back on her own daughter. Extremely disgraceful! It also seemed Mary...

A Kiss Of Shadows (Merry Gentry #1) By Laurell K. Hamilton (Book Review)

Image
((((There will be spoilers...You have been warned))) Summary: Merry Gentry, princess of the high court of Faerie, is posing as a human in Los Angeles, working as a private investigator specializing in supernatural crime. But now the queen's assassin has been dispatched to fetch her- whether she likes it or not. Suddenly Merry finds herself a pawn in her dreaded aunt's plans. The job that awaits her: enjoy the constant company of the most beautiful immortal men in the world. The rewards: the crown- and the opportunity to continue to live. The penalty for failure: death. In the opening scene we find Merry Gentry in Los Angeles and her boss Jeremy Grey convincing Merry to help two young women. One who is a wife and the other a mistress. Upon meeting both Frances Norton aka the wife and Naomi Phelps 'the mistress' Merry knew that they desperately needed their help. It seemed that Mr. Alistair Norton had a thing for the fae or those who are descendants of fae. The f...

Five Dialogues: Euthyphro, Apology, Crito, Meno, Phaedo By: Plato, G.M.A Grube and John M. Cooper (Book Review)

Image
Summary: In the revised form in which George Grube's distinguished translations appear here, they present Plato's wonderfully vivid and moving as well as challenging portrayal of Socrates, and of the philosophic life, in clear, contemporary, down-to-earth English that nonetheless preserves and accurately conveys the nuances of Plato's and Socrates' philosophical ideas.  I first got my hands on this book during my first semester of college studying Ancient Philosophy. During the class I was introduced to Plato's work and had to study particular sections within the book. I always had a love for Greek mythology but I never thought that I would enjoy and grow such an appreciation for philosophy. For this review I am going to break down each dialogue down to make it easier to understand and for it to be less chaotic.  Euthyphro: Socrates encounters Euthyphro outside the court of Athen's seeing as how Meletus is accusing Socrates of corrupting the young ...

The Announcement By: Michael J. Gajda (Book Review)

Image
(((I received this book to review but it will in no way influence my review and rating))) Summary: You drive down a road for the hundredth time and notice a house you've never noticed before. You look at a picture and never saw that green spot before. You pick veggies or fruit and think you've cleared the area, then go back and see all the ones you missed. It's all in your point of view. There's a new perspective, a different angle - and you see things differently. And that's where The Announcement comes in. It provides that different point of view, that new perspective, that different angle, and does so with a purpose, It's for anyone who would like to see the world be a better place, but will challenge your ideas of what ""better"" is. And when you're done, and have had a chance to absorb The Announcement, think of others who would hate this book. Then give it to them and cajole, bribe, beg or whatever you have to do to get the...

True Blood | Season 1 Episode 12: You'll Be The Death Of Me (Review)

Image
(((Please be advised there are spoilers))) It is quite eerie seeing Drew aka Rene acting suspicious and seeing his demeanor change right before our eyes. What is stranger is a church is interested in a murderer and helping fund his defense. Granted Jason isn't the murderer but it is strange for a church to have a vested interest. But Rene is such a sneak. Cutting cables in Sookie's car to finally get her alone. Everything is finally falling into place when it comes to Rene. Arlene's kids find his video tapes and Sam connects Rene's scent to the killer's. At the end of the day it was Sookie who saved herself and killed Rene/Drew with a shovel. I love that we had both Sam and Bill on the ground unable to help but Sookie was the hero instead of the damsel in distress.  It did feel a bit anti-climactic with how easily Rene got bested by Sookie. Granted for all his other victims he had the element of surprise. I think for him being the antagonist for an entire ...

A Quiet Place (Movie Review)

Image
(((There will be spoilers within this review.))) Summary:  If they hear you, they hunt you. The Abbott family are in the midst of a post-attacked world where creatures that have insurmountable hearing abilities which causes this family to stay quiet to stay alive. One little peep and they could lose their life. I don't know why when I quickly watched the trailer on Facebook I thought this movie was about a house that was possessed and if they spoke the demon would come out. Not going to lie, I thought my original impression of what the movie was compared to what it is was a heck of a lot better. Within the first five minutes of the movie my movie companion kindly reminded me that this movie actually contained creatures and not demons.  When we are first introduced to the Abbott family they are searching through a grocery store for supplies and right away we see the little routine they put in place; not wearing shoes, picking things up carefully and using...

Keanu Movie Review

Image
(((((((This review might contain spoilers...You have been warned)))))) Summary: When dumped by his girlfriend, slacker Rell (Jordan Peele) finds happiness when a cute kitten ends up at his doorstep. After a couple of thugs steal his kitten, Rell asks his cousin Clarence (Keegan-Michael Key) for help. They learn that a thug named Cheddar has Keanu and will only give back the kitten if they agree to work for him. Problem is it doesn't take long for these two to get in big trouble.  First off, what a cute little kitten! When having a look at Rell with the aftermath of his breakup, I can safely say he is worse than a woman having a mental break-down. OMG Rell taught Keanu to scratch his ex-girlfriend's picture. That to me is just beyond cute!  Clarence trying to be gangsta and a thug says about Keanu to Cheddar "we in the market for a gangsta pet" lol what the fuck? That has got to be the stupidest thing I've ever heard in my life. Rell and Clarence p...
