Urban Decay | Naked Heat Eyeshadow Palette (Review)

Image
Product Summary: Naked Heats up. Get lit with 12 can't live without, amber-hued naturals including warm browns, burnt oranges and rich siennas. From a super smooth red-brown matter and a glimmering copper to a deep, shift bronze, this palette has everything you need to create sultry daytime looks, intensely smoky nighttime looks and everything in between. Cost: Full price is $70 but I bought it on sale from Sephora for $38.50   ***Cruelty Free*** This palette is right up my alley! I love this kind of color story with browns and reds. It's absolutely perfect for the summer months while being dark enough for the autumn time when the weather gets colder.  I've been learning new ways to do my makeup instead of doing the same eye look; having a shimmer shade on my lids and matte colors on my crease. Prior to learning new ways to do my makeup I would have found this palette too dark, especially, for everyday wear. I would have thought a single light shimmery shade wouldn't be...

No Buy Makeup Challenge

Image
Over the years I have accumulated more makeup than I would like to admit. And unfortunately, a lot of it is very similar. A have a lot of blushes, highlighters and a lot of eyeshadows. I do have quite a bit that has been sitting. Whether I haven't gotten to it yet and haven't had a chance to do a review on it. There's just quite a lot and it's definitely time to make a change. I rationalized it by only purchasing items on sale or it's a subscription box of samples only (Ipsy) so clearly it's okay. But in reality I was just getting too much and not knowing when to stop. Overconsumption at its finest.  I'm grateful to my boyfriend for many reasons and last year he pointed out to me how my eyeshadow palettes all look alike to him. I, of course, shrugged it off at first but then I started opening all my palettes and seeing just how much I enjoy the same type of color scheme. There's nothing wrong with that, however, what is wrong is having so many palettes t...

Sephora | Metallic Pigment Palette Review

Image
Product Summary: Amp up your glow with this metallic pigment palette. Light reflecting metallics in light pink, peach and bronze are perfect for highlighting cheekbones, inner eyes and brow bone. Chrome, gold and foiled ruby add bold pops of unexpected color to any look and can be applied as highlight, eyeshadow and even blush. Soft, pigmented formula blends seamlessly into skin for an eye catching, amped up metallic sheen. Cost: $9.  ***Not cruelty free*** I have had this Sephora palette collecting dust for I don’t know how long now. It seemed like a great deal at the time, 6 pigments for only $9. However, it looked ‘boring’ in comparison to other eyeshadow palettes I have reviewed in the past. But man was I so wrong! I have been easing closer to palettes with multiple uses for both eyes and the face. This palette is absolutely amazing! Especially, the shades!  The bottom row I like to mix all the shades together and apply it on my cheekbones. I can use this palette as ...

Pretty Vulgar | Phoenix Rising Eyeshadow Palette (Review)

Image
Product Summary: Phoenix Rising eyeshadow palette is filled with 12 long-wearing and highly pigmented, fiery, warm toned shades. These warm matte, shimmer, and satin eyeshadows colours are created using soft textured pigments that provide the formula with a luxuriously smooth, creamy, and blendable application. Cost: $36 ***cruelty free*** I have become extremely predictable when it comes to eyeshadow palettes. Give me a beautiful nude/neutral palette and I am all over it. My boyfriend remarked that I have so many palettes with the same shades and even though he’s right I’m never going to stop buying eyeshadow palettes. Especially, if they’re on sale!  There’s a good mix of shimmer and matte eyeshadows. You can have a natural look all the way to a dark smoky look. I love how easily all the shadows blend and they are beyond pigmented! There isn’t any fall out and there’s amazing colour payoff. However, I’m not happy with the packaging. I have no issue with it being made with cardboa...

Tarte Cosmetics | Tartelette Toasted Eyeshadow Palette (Review)

Image
Product summary: This palette features the perfect combo of rich and warm, wearable mattes and lustrous shimmers in universally flattering lid, crease, and liner shades. The powder formula is infused with Tarte’s signature Amazonian clay for intense payoff, long wear, and creamy texture. The palette is arranged in rows of three for easy looks to mix and match. Cost: $61 but I bought it on sale at Sephora for $38.25. ***Cruelty free*** I think by now it’s obvious that I have a thing for nudes/neutral eyeshadows. And the toasted palette is no different. It’s right up my alley and was a dream to use. The shadows are buttery soft, extremely pigmented and lasts all day!  The shadows blend together nicely and you can achieve any look from a natural look to a full glam look fairly easily. Evidently from the picture below, I gravitated towards a more natural/warm look just because I find it looks better and I don’t like having to spend so much time on doing my makeup.  Rating: I...

Natasha Denona | Tan Bronze & Glow Palette (Review)

Image
Product Summary: Glow cream base is hydrating, luminous, cream highlighter to give skin the ultimate lit from within, radiant glow. Super glow is a super soft highlighting powder that gives skin an intense, ethereal, glass like glow. This lightweight formula contours with levels of crushed and milled chroma crystals mixed with crushed pearls. Glow impact powder is a multidimensional, metallic highlighting powder with a HD finish and a velvety smooth texture. Blush and bronze powder is a powder with a smooth, velvety texture that melts into the skin for seamless shaping, effortless blending and maximum comfort. Cost: full price is $80 but I got it on sale for $51.80  ***Cruelty free*** This is my second purchase of a Natasha Denona palette and like expected it was absolutely amazing! I don't have many bronzers, as demonstrated on my blog. I mostly use highlighters and blush. See? I am trying to expand my bronzer collection and trying new ones. In reality, there is only one bro...

Huda Beauty | The New Nude Eyeshadow Palette (Review)

Image
Product Summary: 18 gorgeous shades ranging from cool to warm tones, including 10 buttery mattes that blend seamlessly with your skin, 4 multi-reflective shadows with a versatile pearly to iridescent finish, 2 pressed glitters for an opulent touch, 1 pressed pearl for a velvety shine, 1 concealer base to make your shadows pop. From a minimalist, I-woke-up-like-this look to a show stopping iridescent lid, this eyeshadow palette is your new must have to enhance your beauty on any occasion.  Cost: Full price $86 but I bought it on sale at sephora for $43.  ***Cruelty free*** This is my first Huda Beauty product and I'm disappointed. I expected better, especially, when their palettes almost cost $90. One of my biggest issues is the fallout. Whether I'm picking up product with my brush or the wear throughout the day it gets everywhere! The glitter and shimmer shades are the worst to deal with. The glitter and shimmer shades end up all around my eyes and don't stay put. And if I ...

Violet Voss | Glamingo Pro Face Palette (Review)

Image
Product Summary: The glamingo face palette features a blissful selection of colorfully-feminine blushes and bronzers, as well as blindingly-glowing highlighters. Inspired by the beautiful colours of the tropics, this collection of travel must have shades is everything you need for any event. Full price is $60 but I bought it on sale at Sephora for $30.  ***Cruelty free*** This has surprisingly been a fun palette to play with! It's hard to find a palette where I can use all the shades for what they are intended for and I'm happy to say that has changed with this palette.  This palette is best to use during the summer because that's when I can use all the shades. This past winter I've stuck to using the two blushes as well as the highlighter (white sand) they are the more flattering shades to use while I'm at my palest.  I love that this palette is so versatile, you have warm and cool tone shades. They are multifunctional, you can use this palette to do your face mak...

Too Faced | Christmas Coffee Eyeshadow Palette (Review)

Image
Product Summary: Get your colour fix from 8 tasty shadows that arm you up like a hot latte on a cool morning. There's no jitter, only glitter (and creamy perfection) from these gorgeous shades that keep you going long past morning. Bought this palette on sale for $25. ***Cruelty free*** When I first used this palette I was a little bit nervous that the lightest shade Kool Whip would be too light but it works amazingly on the lid. It has a tiny bit of sheen which you wouldn't notice unless you swatch it. I love using Kool Whip to brighten and open my eyes. It just looks so good. All these shades are extremely pigment and blend really well individually and together.  There is some fallout if you pick up too much product so just pick up a little bit of product and if needed you can build the colour up. All these colours work together so well. You can pair up any 2 colours and they will work well together. It's super easy to create a quick eye look and be on the go to start you...

Sephora Collection | Make No Mistake Full Coverage Concealer (Review)

Image
Product Summary: This super concentrated, full coverage formula packs a powerful punch in a single drop that never settles into fine lines or wrinkles. It corrects discoloration, hyperpigmentation and imperfections while providing undetectable coverage. It is lightweight-wearing and feels luxurious without heaviness, dries and imparts a smooth, natural-matte finish. The compact slim tube component dispenses the precise dosage for on the go, no-fuss application. This formula contains turmeric extract, which is known for its soothing properties. Cost: $19 I got the shade in 01 Fleur de sel.  ***Not cruelty free*** This concealer is extremely thick so it's best to start with a little and build up the coverage. It definitely took me a while to figure out how to apply it. I tried with makeup sponges and brushes, and I've found the best way to apply it is with my finger. I put a tiny bit on my finger and apply only on the area I want to conceal. I only spot conceal with this becaus...

Morphe | 35 XO Natural Flirt Artistry Palette (Review)

Image
Product Summary: Show off that flirty side all season long with this playful palette. Shimmering nudes mix and mingle with blushing berries for a glam good-time. Take full advantage of these sultry shades and show everyone that less can truly mean more. Cost: $34 but I bought it on sale from Sephora for $24. ***Cruelty free*** This is my first Morphe product and eyeshadow palette from them. I'm so happy I bought this palette because it's so versatile and easy to use. It has a nice combination of neutral, pink and purple shadows. There's enough diversity that you can make a lot of different eye looks that range from natural, glamorous and evening looks. If you're starting out and want to build a palette collection this is a great one to start with. This is one of the few palettes that I love reaching for and I don't think I'll store away in a drawer like I have with other palettes I've reviewed in the past.  The pigmentation is absolutely amazing, it's l...

Tarte | Tarteist Pro Glow To Go Highlight+Contour Palette (Review)

Image
Product Summary: Portable highlight and contour palette with three natural artistry shades. Rich, cool undertones mimic real shadow and light reflection. Highlighting powders deliver a buildable, micro shimmer strobe. Matte contouring powder adds balanced dimension. Powered by longwearing Amazonian clay for fade-free payoff. Includes: Gleam (pearl highlight), Burst (shimmering sand highlight) and Chisel (matte contour). Cost: $26 but I bought it on sale at Sephora for $19.50 ***Cruelty Free***  One thing that I find beyond annoying when it comes to makeup is advertising a product as a contour shade when it's clearly a bronzer. A lot of people find it difficult to distinguish the two but as a company selling these types of products they should not be falsely advertising bronzer as contour and quite frankly should know the difference as well. Chisel (the contour shade) is extremely warm tone and not cool tone. It's straight up a bronzer shade with how brown it is. Normally for co...

KVD Beauty | Everlasting Longwearing Liquid Lipstick in Lolita II and Outlaw (Review)

Image
Product summary: The liquid lipstick that started a revolution. This creamy formula glides over lips and sets to a true matt finish, plus it's packed with natural moisturizers like vitamin E and sunflower seed wax. These liquid lipsticks are transfer-resistant, long-wearing, highly pigmented and have a comfortable matte finish. Costs: $28. Lolita II: Terracotta nude. Outlaw: Brick Red.  ***Cruelty free*** I am a huge fan of liquid lipsticks and I enjoy trying them out from different companies. KVD beauty is known for their liquid lipsticks so I thought I was in safe hands. But boy I was extremely wrong! Starting off with the application process it's easy to apply and the product is very creamy. My long list of issues start just shortly after that.  First off, these liquid lipsticks are not long-lasting at all. It rubs off while I eat, while I drink water and it even disappears without me doing nothing. It's the strangest thing I've experienced when it comes to makeup. ...

Too Faced | Melted In Paris Liquid Lipstick Set (Review)

Image
Product Summary: A long-wearing, innovative ultra-matte lipstick with the staying power of a stain and the intense colour of a liquid lipstick. Each lipstick is enriched with avocado oil, vitamin e and hyaluronic filling spheres to help nourish, protect and smooth the look of the lips. This long-wear formula stays on for up to eight hours and glides over lips like a gloss but dries to an ultra-matte, opaque finish. Leaves lips looking rich, full, and kissable. Never dry, shriveled, or cracked. Set contains: Lady Balls, My Type, Gingerbread Man (scented in gingerbread) and Bottomless. I bought this on sale for $22.50.  ***Cruelty free ❤*** I absolutely love lip products and this is the first time trying lip products from Too Faced. I love the colour of all four of these lipsticks. They are extremely pigmented and opaque. When applying it, it does feel very wet like a gloss minus the stickiness and it does take a little while to dry down completely so don't drink or eat anythin...

Sephora | Exfoliating Cleansing Cream Green Tea (Review)

Image
Product Summary: A cleansing cream with tiny scrubbing beads that help clean out pores, sweep away dead skin cells and help refine skins texture. Skin is soft and luminous, free of impurities and excess oil. Costs: $5. *Not Cruelty Free* During summer months, our skin is attacked by humidity and constant sweat. For my skin specifically I tend to have more clogged pores, breakouts and excess oil. I don't do well in the heat and neither does my skin. That is why a exfoliating cleanser is a must. I was a little worried at first because a lot of scrubs contain microplastics that are extremely damaging to the skin. However, after checking the ingredient deck I had no more worries. The beads actually end up dissolving when you expose them to water. Microbeads make of plastic don't do that.  I was super impressed by this product. Not just by the price but how effective it is for the skin. After just one use, you can instantly notice a difference. It helped clean away my excess oil, it...

Becca Cosmetics | Shimmering Skin Perfector Spotlight and Pressed in Opal (Review)

Image
Product Summary| Shimmering skin perfector spotlight in Opal: Let your features shine wherever you go. Define and highlight with a spotlight highlighter. This formula features ultra-fine light reflecting pearls that melt into your skin for polished, natural-looking radiance. Water-light and sheer, the opal shade adjusts in any light so your refined glow is never lost. Costs around $40. Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Opal: A creamy luminizing powder that veils skin in a soft pearlized glow with a lustrous velvet finish. Sweep across face or apply to targeted areas including cheekbones, brow bones and bridge of the nose. Costs $50.  ***Cruelty-free ❤*** I am a huge lover of highlighters whether liquid or powder highlighter. I simply love them all! So of course I would fall in love with these highlighters. However, I'm not a big fan of the price. I was able to snag deluxe samples for around $25. But $40-50 for a single highlighter is so obscene. Not sure if that plays a part to ...

Natasha Denona | Diamond & Blush Palette- Darya (Review)

Image
Product Summary: This cheek palette was created with a diamond like sparkle, based on Natasha's idea of a new generation of glow, use it to play and achieve a wide range of finishes and look, from natural to extreme. Create a duo-chrome or diamond glow. The palette also includes a new cream blush as well as Natasha's classic powder blush. Costs $117 but I bought it on sale from Sephora for $58 ***Cruelty free ❤*** I have always wanted to try a Natasha Denona product but it has always been too expensive for my taste. However, when this palette went on sale I knew I had to splurge. And yes! $58 for a makeup product is considered splurging for me.  I am a huge fan of highlighters and blushes. They are my go to face products since I don't care for bronzer/ contour. So this face palette is right up my alley. There are 3 cream products and 3 powder products. I didn't use nor need to use any sponges to apply the cream products. Using a regular brush, it picks up the cream pro...

Sephora Collection | Highlight Lowlight Face Contour Duo in Light (Review)

Image
Product Summary: This creamy contour duo lets you easily create a sculpted look with the perfect shade combination. Modern matte highlighter attracts light and brightens your best features, while the buildable contour shade slims, sculps and defines your face in a natural way. Costs around $14.  *** Not Cruelty-Free 👎*** This contour duo was a lot more creamier than I expected it to be. A lot of the time with cream products, I'm forced to use oils to make the product manageable and blendable. But this one is extremely creamy and doesn't dry out. It's so creamy that you can easily blend it with a brush or a beauty sponge. I'm fairly pale with shitty dark under eyes so the fact that the highlighter has yellow undertones allows me to use it as a undereye concealer since it cancels out the dark/blue in under eyes.  The contour part isn't that great when you try to blend it out, it leaves behind a streaky orange mess. For fair to medium skin tones, the contour color ne...

Sephora Collection | Cushion Glossy Eyeliner in Ultra Black (Review)

Image
Product Summary: This glossy liquid eyeliner, dispensed through a cushion-like sponge is an innovation! Paired with Sephora classic must have angled liner brush #90, this feather light, quick drying formula, gives you richly pigmented precision for any desired look! Price: $18.50 ***Not Cruelty Free 👎👎*** It seems I have no luck with eyeliners as of late. I have a string of terrible eyeliners and with every eyeliner I review, the experience gets worse and worse. It's becoming exhausting for me having to have so many shitty experiences with these liners. And it seems this never ending liner tragedy will continue.  This Sephora liner didn't fair too well either. The first few applications were so difficult, the formula dries too quickly to do a perfect winged liner. You basically have 10-15 seconds to apply the liner before it dries and when it dries it's a bitch and a half to go over and perfect what you already applied. I thought maybe if I changed eye...
