Tarte Cosmetics | Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush (Review)

Image
Product Summary: This blush contains soft, silky, Amazonian clay-infused powder so it glides on smoothly and lasts for 12 hours. The rich pigment delivers a fresh flush of color with buildable coverage that blends smoothly while instantly airbrushing imperfections. Cost: $41. I currently have the shades: Captivating, Charmed, Delight, Exposed and paaarty.  ***Cruelty free*** A girl can never have too much blush, especially, when you are a fan of blushes. Being pale, I have never met a blush that I didn't like or that didn't look good on me. In comparison to bronzer, it's a lot harder to wear and pull off which is why I've always gravitated towards blushes. Even on days that I'm wearing light makeup (which is most days) I'll always add a little blush and some highlight.  During the summer, a little goes a long way but during winter this pale girl gets paler and needs all the help I can get to add some color to my face.  I love just how well these blushes sit on ...

No Buy Makeup Challenge

Image
Over the years I have accumulated more makeup than I would like to admit. And unfortunately, a lot of it is very similar. A have a lot of blushes, highlighters and a lot of eyeshadows. I do have quite a bit that has been sitting. Whether I haven't gotten to it yet and haven't had a chance to do a review on it. There's just quite a lot and it's definitely time to make a change. I rationalized it by only purchasing items on sale or it's a subscription box of samples only (Ipsy) so clearly it's okay. But in reality I was just getting too much and not knowing when to stop. Overconsumption at its finest.  I'm grateful to my boyfriend for many reasons and last year he pointed out to me how my eyeshadow palettes all look alike to him. I, of course, shrugged it off at first but then I started opening all my palettes and seeing just how much I enjoy the same type of color scheme. There's nothing wrong with that, however, what is wrong is having so many palettes t...

Sephora | Metallic Pigment Palette Review

Image
Product Summary: Amp up your glow with this metallic pigment palette. Light reflecting metallics in light pink, peach and bronze are perfect for highlighting cheekbones, inner eyes and brow bone. Chrome, gold and foiled ruby add bold pops of unexpected color to any look and can be applied as highlight, eyeshadow and even blush. Soft, pigmented formula blends seamlessly into skin for an eye catching, amped up metallic sheen. Cost: $9.  ***Not cruelty free*** I have had this Sephora palette collecting dust for I don’t know how long now. It seemed like a great deal at the time, 6 pigments for only $9. However, it looked ‘boring’ in comparison to other eyeshadow palettes I have reviewed in the past. But man was I so wrong! I have been easing closer to palettes with multiple uses for both eyes and the face. This palette is absolutely amazing! Especially, the shades!  The bottom row I like to mix all the shades together and apply it on my cheekbones. I can use this palette as ...

Pretty Vulgar | Phoenix Rising Eyeshadow Palette (Review)

Image
Product Summary: Phoenix Rising eyeshadow palette is filled with 12 long-wearing and highly pigmented, fiery, warm toned shades. These warm matte, shimmer, and satin eyeshadows colours are created using soft textured pigments that provide the formula with a luxuriously smooth, creamy, and blendable application. Cost: $36 ***cruelty free*** I have become extremely predictable when it comes to eyeshadow palettes. Give me a beautiful nude/neutral palette and I am all over it. My boyfriend remarked that I have so many palettes with the same shades and even though he’s right I’m never going to stop buying eyeshadow palettes. Especially, if they’re on sale!  There’s a good mix of shimmer and matte eyeshadows. You can have a natural look all the way to a dark smoky look. I love how easily all the shadows blend and they are beyond pigmented! There isn’t any fall out and there’s amazing colour payoff. However, I’m not happy with the packaging. I have no issue with it being made with cardboa...

Maybelline | Face Studio Master Hi-Light Bronzer (Review)

Image
Product Summary:  The multi-tonal bronzer palette highlights skin and softly contours cheeks for an instantly defined glow. I have the shade light bronze. Original price is $16.99 but got it on sale for $4.  ***not cruelty free*** I have been trying to venture into the world of bronzers and with how cheap this one is. I figured I might as well try it. This bronzer was not what I was expecting at all. I thought it would be too dark or difficult to work with but this has been one of the easiest products ever! All you need to do is swirl your brush and apply it on the cheekbones. It’s that simple!  It makes my cheeks so beautiful and glowy. On my skin ton it appears like a nude blush with a highlighter top. And what’s great about it is that I can use it during the winter or summer season.  Rating: 5 stars on 5!  This shall be a short review. I have absolutely no complaints other than I wish it was cruelty free. But otherwise it was a great product, easy to us...

Tarte Cosmetics | Tartelette Toasted Eyeshadow Palette (Review)

Image
Product summary: This palette features the perfect combo of rich and warm, wearable mattes and lustrous shimmers in universally flattering lid, crease, and liner shades. The powder formula is infused with Tarte’s signature Amazonian clay for intense payoff, long wear, and creamy texture. The palette is arranged in rows of three for easy looks to mix and match. Cost: $61 but I bought it on sale at Sephora for $38.25. ***Cruelty free*** I think by now it’s obvious that I have a thing for nudes/neutral eyeshadows. And the toasted palette is no different. It’s right up my alley and was a dream to use. The shadows are buttery soft, extremely pigmented and lasts all day!  The shadows blend together nicely and you can achieve any look from a natural look to a full glam look fairly easily. Evidently from the picture below, I gravitated towards a more natural/warm look just because I find it looks better and I don’t like having to spend so much time on doing my makeup.  Rating: I...

Violet Voss | Glamingo Pro Face Palette (Review)

Image
Product Summary: The glamingo face palette features a blissful selection of colorfully-feminine blushes and bronzers, as well as blindingly-glowing highlighters. Inspired by the beautiful colours of the tropics, this collection of travel must have shades is everything you need for any event. Full price is $60 but I bought it on sale at Sephora for $30.  ***Cruelty free*** This has surprisingly been a fun palette to play with! It's hard to find a palette where I can use all the shades for what they are intended for and I'm happy to say that has changed with this palette.  This palette is best to use during the summer because that's when I can use all the shades. This past winter I've stuck to using the two blushes as well as the highlighter (white sand) they are the more flattering shades to use while I'm at my palest.  I love that this palette is so versatile, you have warm and cool tone shades. They are multifunctional, you can use this palette to do your face mak...

Araceli Beauty | Ojos Perfectos Liquid Eyeliner (Review)

Image
Product Summary: Matte black and highly pigmented, this precise tip is perfect to create thin lines or a sharp winged liner. The liquid eyeliner was designed to stay put through any emotional novelas, heart-felt Rancheras or getting smacked with the chancla. Costs: $20. The liner I got was in the shade Night.  I ended up receiving this item in a Ipsy glam bag which is a monthly beauty subscription service where you get 5 items from sample to full size for around 20$ Canadian. Click  here to check them out.   ***Cruelty free*** I have had a string of bad luck regarding black eyeliners for the past few years. While this one isn't as bad as some I've tried in the past it's still not the best. The application process wasn't so terrible. The tip does dry up quickly when I try to apply the liner on both eyes. And it becomes extremely difficult to have a sharp wing when the tip is too dry.  I thought this eyeliner would be a long-lasting one but it can't even withstand a d...

Marc Jacobs | Le Marc Lip Crème (Review)

Image
Product summary: A rich, velvety, ultra-hydrating lipstick that delivers a dramatic punch of vivid pigment and endless hours of luxurious wear. Costs: $30. Lipstick I have is in the shade Kiss Kiss Bang Bang 216.  ***Cruelty free*** The colour is gorgeous and totally up my alley. It works well with my complexion, it's very pigmented and it's a nice summer shade. It applies easily and is very creamy but it ends there. Honestly, I had high hopes for this lipstick, especially, since it's described as being ultra-hydrating.  But this dries out my lips like you wouldn't believe. Maybe 10 minutes after application and it dries out my lips. The dried out parts of my lips were crumbling off and peeling off. And it specifically does this whether I exfoliate my lips or not.  It does last a long time on the lips but it's so uncomfortable  and it doesn't sit well that I just want to wipe it off right away. When it comes to eating or even drinking I just have the urge to wi...

Tarte | Tarteist Pro Glow To Go Highlight+Contour Palette (Review)

Image
Product Summary: Portable highlight and contour palette with three natural artistry shades. Rich, cool undertones mimic real shadow and light reflection. Highlighting powders deliver a buildable, micro shimmer strobe. Matte contouring powder adds balanced dimension. Powered by longwearing Amazonian clay for fade-free payoff. Includes: Gleam (pearl highlight), Burst (shimmering sand highlight) and Chisel (matte contour). Cost: $26 but I bought it on sale at Sephora for $19.50 ***Cruelty Free***  One thing that I find beyond annoying when it comes to makeup is advertising a product as a contour shade when it's clearly a bronzer. A lot of people find it difficult to distinguish the two but as a company selling these types of products they should not be falsely advertising bronzer as contour and quite frankly should know the difference as well. Chisel (the contour shade) is extremely warm tone and not cool tone. It's straight up a bronzer shade with how brown it is. Normally for co...

Too Faced | Melted In Paris Liquid Lipstick Set (Review)

Image
Product Summary: A long-wearing, innovative ultra-matte lipstick with the staying power of a stain and the intense colour of a liquid lipstick. Each lipstick is enriched with avocado oil, vitamin e and hyaluronic filling spheres to help nourish, protect and smooth the look of the lips. This long-wear formula stays on for up to eight hours and glides over lips like a gloss but dries to an ultra-matte, opaque finish. Leaves lips looking rich, full, and kissable. Never dry, shriveled, or cracked. Set contains: Lady Balls, My Type, Gingerbread Man (scented in gingerbread) and Bottomless. I bought this on sale for $22.50.  ***Cruelty free ❤*** I absolutely love lip products and this is the first time trying lip products from Too Faced. I love the colour of all four of these lipsticks. They are extremely pigmented and opaque. When applying it, it does feel very wet like a gloss minus the stickiness and it does take a little while to dry down completely so don't drink or eat anythin...

It Cosmetics | Bye Bye Under Eye Full Coverage Anti-Aging Waterproof Concealer (Review)

Image
Product Summary: Developed with plastic surgeons, this award-winning anti-aging concealer is highly pigmented, never creases or cracks, and truly covers everything! It effectively conceals the look of skin imperfections including dark circles, bags, redness, hyperpigmentation, broken capillaries, age spots and discoloration. Costs $36. I have two shades, I have light and light fair.  I ended up receiving this item in a Ipsy glam bag which is a monthly beauty subscription service where you get 5 items from sample to full size for around 20$ Canadian. Click  here to check them out. ***Cruelty free ❤*** With its claim of covering everything and never creasing definitely intrigued me. Covering my under eyes has been a constant battle over the past several years. I tried several different ways of applying the concealer; with my fingers, concealer brush and a beauty sponge. With a concealer brush and fingers a little goes a long way. Especially, with how thick it is, you can g...

Hard Candy | Glamoflauge Heavy Duty Concealer with Concealer Pencil (Review)

Image
Product Summary: A heavy duty, multi-use concealer that provides ultimate coverage. Formula blends flawlessly into skin, hides everything from dark circles and blemishes to tattoos. Bought this concealer in Ultra Light 487. Costs $6.  ***Cruelty free ❤*** It's no surprise that I've got some dark circles and am in need of a heavy duty concealer, it also doesn't help that my sleep schedule is all over the place. They weren't joking when they said it's heavy duty. It is extremely thick and sticky. While I do want some coverage for my under eyes I don't like having a ton of product and caking on makeup in an attempt to cover up my dark undereye circles. I prefer having very light face makeup just because I don't have problematic skin. I only have certain areas that I want to cover up and conceal.  I got this concealer in ultra light but this color once blended washes m out. There is barely any pigmentation in it. This concealer is essentially just white. I'...

Sephora Collection | Highlight Lowlight Face Contour Duo in Light (Review)

Image
Product Summary: This creamy contour duo lets you easily create a sculpted look with the perfect shade combination. Modern matte highlighter attracts light and brightens your best features, while the buildable contour shade slims, sculps and defines your face in a natural way. Costs around $14.  *** Not Cruelty-Free 👎*** This contour duo was a lot more creamier than I expected it to be. A lot of the time with cream products, I'm forced to use oils to make the product manageable and blendable. But this one is extremely creamy and doesn't dry out. It's so creamy that you can easily blend it with a brush or a beauty sponge. I'm fairly pale with shitty dark under eyes so the fact that the highlighter has yellow undertones allows me to use it as a undereye concealer since it cancels out the dark/blue in under eyes.  The contour part isn't that great when you try to blend it out, it leaves behind a streaky orange mess. For fair to medium skin tones, the contour color ne...

Kat Von D | Shade + Light Eye Contour Quad in Sage (Review)

Image
Product Summary: Step up your contoured eye looks with the shade + light eye contour quad. Featuring four curated matte shades, this quad spotlights KVD's high pigment, silky, and blendable eye shadows in a coveted, coffin shaped palette. Bring out the best in your eyes with a neutral base, and then use the contour, define, and highlight shades to create your ideal eye shape. You can use the four shadows to lift, define, widen and narrow your eyes.  Costs around 26$ ***Cruelty free ❤*** I had higher expectations from this product, unfortunately, what I got in return was a disappointing experience and a whole lot of fallout. The first thing I noticed as soon as I dipped my brush is the huge amount of product that kicked up. It felt almost like something out of a sandbox, it's everywhere and it keeps on coming. On top of that, it's hell to blend it. I'm trying to blend the shadow into my crease and instead of blending, the shadow just moves around. I have to work a long ...

Pacifica Beauty | Power Of Love Natural Lipstick In Nudie Red (Review)

Image
Product summary:  Amazingly creamy, highly-pigmented, and naturally moisturizing. This lipstick is packed with all the vitamins and antioxidants your lips crave. Made with coconut oil, shea butter, and vitamin E. It is also 100% vegan. Costs around $8-9. I ended up receiving this item in a Ipsy glam bag which is a monthly beauty subscription service where you get 5 items from sample to full size for around 20$ Canadian. Click  here to check them out. ***Cruelty Free 👍*** Despite this lipstick being natural, it smells very artificial and almost like plastic. A bit of the shea butter scent comes through but for the most part it doesn't smell good. It's so rough to apply on the lips. Every time I apply it, the lipstick will tug on my lips. It also feels heavy on the lips. Whenever I eat or drink something, I get the horrible taste of plastic in my mouth which tastes quite disgusting and awful. I have to wipe my mouth completely of this lipstick and once I'm done eating I r...

Rimmel London | Stay Matte Primer (Review)

Image
Product Summary: Stay matte primer can be worn as a matte, silky base before applying your foundation or on top of your makeup. Ultra lightweight formula that minimizes the appearance of pores.  Controls shine for up to 8 hours creating a soft, perfectly matte complexion.  Won't feel heavy or greasy The must have to keep you looking effortlessly chic without clogging pores. Cost around $6.99. I ended up receiving this item in a Ipsy glam bag which is a monthly beauty subscription service where you get 4-5 items from sample to full size for around 20$ Canadian. You can  click here to check out Ipsy. ***Not Cruelty-Free 👎👎*** Summer time= hell for Amanda. I love the colder seasons over the warmer ones because during summer I feel like I'm suffocating in the heat. And during the summer my face produces much more oil than it normally does during fall/winter. I prefer to keep the amount of makeup on my face to a minimum so I first apply this primer to my face. A little does ...

It Cosmetics Brow Power (Review)

Image
I first received this Universal eyebrow pencil in universal taupe in my June  ipsy glam bag.   It is full sized and contains 0.07g of product while being worth a whooping $24. Actually I think I have a sample of the brow power but it's not clear on their website . I wish it said the amount of product each pencil contains.  One side as you can see below contains the actual product that you twist up (I appreciate that because I hate pencil's that you have to sharpen) and the other side is a spoolie to comb through your brows.  Here is the brow pencil swatched. I cannot express to you how hard it was to swatch this eyebrow pencil! I had to layer my swatch many times but the great thing about it is when filling in your brows you can slowly fill then in. I do have to say the strokes were very similar to hair.   Many of you may know, others may not but this is definitely not a product that I reach for most. I'm not talking specifically about this It Cosmeti...
