Tarte Cosmetics | Tartelette In Bloom Palette (Review)

Image
Product Summary: Tartelette in bloom is arranged in coordinating rows for 3 easy looks. From fresh mornings to flirty nights, this palette is always in season. It's made of Amazonian clay for all day long wear. Cost: $68 but bought on sale for $38.25   This is the perfect color story for the current season of spring and summer. Tartelette in bloom is a mix of cool tones and warm tones palette which is different to what I am used to and typically go for. However, the shades are still very much something I can work with and who doesn't love a nude/natural eyeshadows?  Over the years, I have tried a few different Tarte products. I can attest that I have had the best experience using their powder products over anything else and this palette is no different. It's been a complete joy incorporating it in my makeup routine.  This palette has the perfect balance of both shimmery and matte shades. I do tend to gravitate more towards the lighter shades just because I don't like ha...

Nars | Laguna Bronzing Powder (Review)

Image
Product summary: Bring on the bronze with the iconic bronzing powder formula. Silky pigments instantly deliver long-lasting warmth with all day comfort. Finely milled powders seamlessly build and blend to create a lit-from-within glow while translucent micro-spheres smooth skin texture for a perfected complexion. Can be used to contour, define, or enhance the look of tanned skin. Cost: $42 ***Not Cruelty Free*** What an iconic piece of influencer history! The OG Youtube community days would consistently mention/use Nars, especially, the Laguna bronzer. It has taken me years to finally have my hands on the most iconic bronzer. As I have said before, It's taken me a long time to properly incorporate bronzer in my makeup routine. Being a pale girly, my go to is using blush to add color to my face. But I have come a long way and now I am no longer afraid of using it, however, I still very much use a light hand when applying it.  Rating: I'm giving this iconic bronzer 4 stars on 5! ...

Saint Luxe| Highlighter (Review)

Image
Product summary: This highlighting powder is a must have! Unleash your inner goddess with the lightweight, iridescent, and super buildable formula. It compliments every skin tone and can be used to highlight any part of the body. Cost: $18..? I have both Celestial and Rose Quartz.  I received these highlighters in a Ipsy bag which is a monthly beauty subscription service where you get 5 items from sample to full size for around 30$ Canadian.  ***Cruelty free*** Since I started using these products I did double check Saint Luxe's website and at the time they had their highlighters priced at $18 and just a couple months later it jumped to $26 and at this moment? Down to $25...that is a crazy jump! Especially, since it doesn't state on their website how much product you're getting for the price. I did check the packaging on the highlights and it does say they are 4.3g each. Just wish that was something they would include on their site.  You all know I am a huge lover o...

Mac Cosmetics | Gold Standard Matte Lipstick Set

Image
I absolutely love shopping at Winners and Homesense. They are great places to go to for home goods, beauty and fashion items. A lot of the time I just like to browse to see if they have anything new or worthwhile. As you guys know, this year my mission has been to be on a low buy and just purchase what I need. However, when I went to Winners a few days back I saw a bunch of gold boxes on the bottom self. They caught the corner of my eye and when I picked it up I saw it was this beautiful set of lipsticks for only $39.99 CAD!!! Here in Canada, Mac lipsticks at full price are $33. Extremely expensive and very difficult to rationalize purchasing when I have 30+ lip products already.  The set had a security tag on it so I wasn't able to read the description to see if they were full sized lipsticks or just minis. $40 for minis is crazy but for 5 full sized lipsticks? Now that is a steal!! The girl working the cash was very gracious in letting me open the box in front of her and when I s...

Smashbox | Studio Skin Full Coverage 24 Hour Hydrating Foundation (Review)

Image
Product Summary: A high performing liquid foundation that helps you face anything. Studio skin evens skin tone and never settles into pores and lines. It won't cause breakouts while controlling oil and shine. It's also transfer-resistant, sweat and humidity resistant. I have the shade: 0.3. Cost: $43 I first received this product in a Ipsy bag which is a monthly beauty subscription service where you get 5 items from sample to full size for around 30$ Canadian.  *Cruelty free* I typically don't wear foundation and I still don't wear full coverage base makeup. I tend to spot conceal when I have redness and cover my under eyes. I do want to emphasize when it comes to wearing base makeup and applying many layers that having a good skincare routine is key and never forget moisturizer! I have made that mistake many times so please don't make the same me. Without a healthy base then the foundation and any additional layers won't appear and blend well into the skin.  T...

Milk Makeup | Lip + Cheek Cream Blush (Review)

Image
Product Summary: A clean, non-comedogenic cream blush stick and lip color with a nourishing formula that builds and blends seamlessly for a quick pop of color. I have the color werk which is described as a dusty rose. Cost: $24 ***Cruelty Free*** This is the first product I am using from Milk Makeup and I'm pleasantly surprised. I don't have many cream blushes so I figured for the summer months this will be great to test out.  I found it best and easiest to use my fingers to apply the product to my cheekbones and blend it out. Versus applying the blush directly to my cheekbones I found that it just naturally applied too much product and I had more of a rosy complexion than I originally wanted.   I will say that it does blend very well (no matter what I use but I prefer using my fingers) and a little does go a long way. I just did not enjoy this whatsoever on my lips. They say that this has a nourishing formula but it was extremely drying for my lips. It didn't sit c...

Makeup Brands From The Grave | Tini Cosmetics

Image
It's crazy to think just how many makeup brands who were once coveted and have sold out. Many makeup brands have gone under and closed up shop. Many who have gone out of business being Becca Cosmetics, Bite Beauty, Makeup Geek, BH Cosmetics, Marc Jacobs just to name a few. Am I the only one who is mentally still stuck in the past when it comes to makeup? A decade ago makeup was beautiful and there was such a craze behind it that so many brands and collections were being released back to back. It was such a beautiful time in the makeup industry and I love to reminisce and look at old youtube videos. I think partly is the reason why I want to create a new series on my blog revisiting old makeup brands. Some that were extremely successful and some that didn't get the recognition they deserved.  I was recently going through my makeup collection when I found these two items from Tini cosmetics. I have their swizzle stick eyeliner in Blue Hawaiian and their Barfly highlighter in cand...

Tarte Cosmetics | Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush (Review)

Image
Product Summary: This blush contains soft, silky, Amazonian clay-infused powder so it glides on smoothly and lasts for 12 hours. The rich pigment delivers a fresh flush of color with buildable coverage that blends smoothly while instantly airbrushing imperfections. Cost: $41. I currently have the shades: Captivating, Charmed, Delight, Exposed and paaarty.  ***Cruelty free*** A girl can never have too much blush, especially, when you are a fan of blushes. Being pale, I have never met a blush that I didn't like or that didn't look good on me. In comparison to bronzer, it's a lot harder to wear and pull off which is why I've always gravitated towards blushes. Even on days that I'm wearing light makeup (which is most days) I'll always add a little blush and some highlight.  During the summer, a little goes a long way but during winter this pale girl gets paler and needs all the help I can get to add some color to my face.  I love just how well these blushes sit on ...

No Buy Makeup Challenge

Image
Over the years I have accumulated more makeup than I would like to admit. And unfortunately, a lot of it is very similar. A have a lot of blushes, highlighters and a lot of eyeshadows. I do have quite a bit that has been sitting. Whether I haven't gotten to it yet and haven't had a chance to do a review on it. There's just quite a lot and it's definitely time to make a change. I rationalized it by only purchasing items on sale or it's a subscription box of samples only (Ipsy) so clearly it's okay. But in reality I was just getting too much and not knowing when to stop. Overconsumption at its finest.  I'm grateful to my boyfriend for many reasons and last year he pointed out to me how my eyeshadow palettes all look alike to him. I, of course, shrugged it off at first but then I started opening all my palettes and seeing just how much I enjoy the same type of color scheme. There's nothing wrong with that, however, what is wrong is having so many palettes t...

Sephora | Metallic Pigment Palette Review

Image
Product Summary: Amp up your glow with this metallic pigment palette. Light reflecting metallics in light pink, peach and bronze are perfect for highlighting cheekbones, inner eyes and brow bone. Chrome, gold and foiled ruby add bold pops of unexpected color to any look and can be applied as highlight, eyeshadow and even blush. Soft, pigmented formula blends seamlessly into skin for an eye catching, amped up metallic sheen. Cost: $9.  ***Not cruelty free*** I have had this Sephora palette collecting dust for I don’t know how long now. It seemed like a great deal at the time, 6 pigments for only $9. However, it looked ‘boring’ in comparison to other eyeshadow palettes I have reviewed in the past. But man was I so wrong! I have been easing closer to palettes with multiple uses for both eyes and the face. This palette is absolutely amazing! Especially, the shades!  The bottom row I like to mix all the shades together and apply it on my cheekbones. I can use this palette as ...

Pretty Vulgar | Phoenix Rising Eyeshadow Palette (Review)

Image
Product Summary: Phoenix Rising eyeshadow palette is filled with 12 long-wearing and highly pigmented, fiery, warm toned shades. These warm matte, shimmer, and satin eyeshadows colours are created using soft textured pigments that provide the formula with a luxuriously smooth, creamy, and blendable application. Cost: $36 ***cruelty free*** I have become extremely predictable when it comes to eyeshadow palettes. Give me a beautiful nude/neutral palette and I am all over it. My boyfriend remarked that I have so many palettes with the same shades and even though he’s right I’m never going to stop buying eyeshadow palettes. Especially, if they’re on sale!  There’s a good mix of shimmer and matte eyeshadows. You can have a natural look all the way to a dark smoky look. I love how easily all the shadows blend and they are beyond pigmented! There isn’t any fall out and there’s amazing colour payoff. However, I’m not happy with the packaging. I have no issue with it being made with cardboa...

Maybelline | Face Studio Master Hi-Light Bronzer (Review)

Image
Product Summary:  The multi-tonal bronzer palette highlights skin and softly contours cheeks for an instantly defined glow. I have the shade light bronze. Original price is $16.99 but got it on sale for $4.  ***not cruelty free*** I have been trying to venture into the world of bronzers and with how cheap this one is. I figured I might as well try it. This bronzer was not what I was expecting at all. I thought it would be too dark or difficult to work with but this has been one of the easiest products ever! All you need to do is swirl your brush and apply it on the cheekbones. It’s that simple!  It makes my cheeks so beautiful and glowy. On my skin ton it appears like a nude blush with a highlighter top. And what’s great about it is that I can use it during the winter or summer season.  Rating: 5 stars on 5!  This shall be a short review. I have absolutely no complaints other than I wish it was cruelty free. But otherwise it was a great product, easy to us...

Tarte Cosmetics | Tartelette Toasted Eyeshadow Palette (Review)

Image
Product summary: This palette features the perfect combo of rich and warm, wearable mattes and lustrous shimmers in universally flattering lid, crease, and liner shades. The powder formula is infused with Tarte’s signature Amazonian clay for intense payoff, long wear, and creamy texture. The palette is arranged in rows of three for easy looks to mix and match. Cost: $61 but I bought it on sale at Sephora for $38.25. ***Cruelty free*** I think by now it’s obvious that I have a thing for nudes/neutral eyeshadows. And the toasted palette is no different. It’s right up my alley and was a dream to use. The shadows are buttery soft, extremely pigmented and lasts all day!  The shadows blend together nicely and you can achieve any look from a natural look to a full glam look fairly easily. Evidently from the picture below, I gravitated towards a more natural/warm look just because I find it looks better and I don’t like having to spend so much time on doing my makeup.  Rating: I...

Violet Voss | Glamingo Pro Face Palette (Review)

Image
Product Summary: The glamingo face palette features a blissful selection of colorfully-feminine blushes and bronzers, as well as blindingly-glowing highlighters. Inspired by the beautiful colours of the tropics, this collection of travel must have shades is everything you need for any event. Full price is $60 but I bought it on sale at Sephora for $30.  ***Cruelty free*** This has surprisingly been a fun palette to play with! It's hard to find a palette where I can use all the shades for what they are intended for and I'm happy to say that has changed with this palette.  This palette is best to use during the summer because that's when I can use all the shades. This past winter I've stuck to using the two blushes as well as the highlighter (white sand) they are the more flattering shades to use while I'm at my palest.  I love that this palette is so versatile, you have warm and cool tone shades. They are multifunctional, you can use this palette to do your face mak...

Araceli Beauty | Ojos Perfectos Liquid Eyeliner (Review)

Image
Product Summary: Matte black and highly pigmented, this precise tip is perfect to create thin lines or a sharp winged liner. The liquid eyeliner was designed to stay put through any emotional novelas, heart-felt Rancheras or getting smacked with the chancla. Costs: $20. The liner I got was in the shade Night.  I ended up receiving this item in a Ipsy glam bag which is a monthly beauty subscription service where you get 5 items from sample to full size for around 20$ Canadian. Click  here to check them out.   ***Cruelty free*** I have had a string of bad luck regarding black eyeliners for the past few years. While this one isn't as bad as some I've tried in the past it's still not the best. The application process wasn't so terrible. The tip does dry up quickly when I try to apply the liner on both eyes. And it becomes extremely difficult to have a sharp wing when the tip is too dry.  I thought this eyeliner would be a long-lasting one but it can't even withstand a d...

Marc Jacobs | Le Marc Lip Crème (Review)

Image
Product summary: A rich, velvety, ultra-hydrating lipstick that delivers a dramatic punch of vivid pigment and endless hours of luxurious wear. Costs: $30. Lipstick I have is in the shade Kiss Kiss Bang Bang 216.  ***Cruelty free*** The colour is gorgeous and totally up my alley. It works well with my complexion, it's very pigmented and it's a nice summer shade. It applies easily and is very creamy but it ends there. Honestly, I had high hopes for this lipstick, especially, since it's described as being ultra-hydrating.  But this dries out my lips like you wouldn't believe. Maybe 10 minutes after application and it dries out my lips. The dried out parts of my lips were crumbling off and peeling off. And it specifically does this whether I exfoliate my lips or not.  It does last a long time on the lips but it's so uncomfortable  and it doesn't sit well that I just want to wipe it off right away. When it comes to eating or even drinking I just have the urge to wi...

Tarte | Tarteist Pro Glow To Go Highlight+Contour Palette (Review)

Image
Product Summary: Portable highlight and contour palette with three natural artistry shades. Rich, cool undertones mimic real shadow and light reflection. Highlighting powders deliver a buildable, micro shimmer strobe. Matte contouring powder adds balanced dimension. Powered by longwearing Amazonian clay for fade-free payoff. Includes: Gleam (pearl highlight), Burst (shimmering sand highlight) and Chisel (matte contour). Cost: $26 but I bought it on sale at Sephora for $19.50 ***Cruelty Free***  One thing that I find beyond annoying when it comes to makeup is advertising a product as a contour shade when it's clearly a bronzer. A lot of people find it difficult to distinguish the two but as a company selling these types of products they should not be falsely advertising bronzer as contour and quite frankly should know the difference as well. Chisel (the contour shade) is extremely warm tone and not cool tone. It's straight up a bronzer shade with how brown it is. Normally for co...

Too Faced | Melted In Paris Liquid Lipstick Set (Review)

Image
Product Summary: A long-wearing, innovative ultra-matte lipstick with the staying power of a stain and the intense colour of a liquid lipstick. Each lipstick is enriched with avocado oil, vitamin e and hyaluronic filling spheres to help nourish, protect and smooth the look of the lips. This long-wear formula stays on for up to eight hours and glides over lips like a gloss but dries to an ultra-matte, opaque finish. Leaves lips looking rich, full, and kissable. Never dry, shriveled, or cracked. Set contains: Lady Balls, My Type, Gingerbread Man (scented in gingerbread) and Bottomless. I bought this on sale for $22.50.  ***Cruelty free ❤*** I absolutely love lip products and this is the first time trying lip products from Too Faced. I love the colour of all four of these lipsticks. They are extremely pigmented and opaque. When applying it, it does feel very wet like a gloss minus the stickiness and it does take a little while to dry down completely so don't drink or eat anythin...

It Cosmetics | Bye Bye Under Eye Full Coverage Anti-Aging Waterproof Concealer (Review)

Image
Product Summary: Developed with plastic surgeons, this award-winning anti-aging concealer is highly pigmented, never creases or cracks, and truly covers everything! It effectively conceals the look of skin imperfections including dark circles, bags, redness, hyperpigmentation, broken capillaries, age spots and discoloration. Costs $36. I have two shades, I have light and light fair.  I ended up receiving this item in a Ipsy glam bag which is a monthly beauty subscription service where you get 5 items from sample to full size for around 20$ Canadian. Click  here to check them out. ***Cruelty free ❤*** With its claim of covering everything and never creasing definitely intrigued me. Covering my under eyes has been a constant battle over the past several years. I tried several different ways of applying the concealer; with my fingers, concealer brush and a beauty sponge. With a concealer brush and fingers a little goes a long way. Especially, with how thick it is, you can g...
