2016: How It Didn't Break Me!

Image
If you have been alive during 2016 then you know exactly just how brutal it was for all of us. It seemed that I would come across a meme every other day on social media describing and painting 2016 as the year from hell. And if you do look at everything that has happened during this year then yes it has been quite unsettling for most. For this post I"ll go over all the accomplishments and over-bearing moments that I have faced during 2016. While also showing to all of you that 2016 did not beat or in lack of better words break me.  Believe it or not but 2016 has definitely been jam-packed full of lessons, accomplishments and unfortunate moments. Nonetheless, this year was bad in a good way. You know what I mean?  First off I'd like to start with the accomplishments of 2016. I graduated college! During these 3 years of hard long work, unwanted friendships, finding myself and learning about myself I've finally crossed the finish line. I wrote a blog post describing...

Graduating From College: My Tell All

Image
I finally graduated from College. Do you know how amazing that feels to say? I am beyond happy and excited to have finally finished College. This has been a long three years in the making. From long nights staying up late writing papers and assignments to the roller-coaster of emotions; College has definitely been a huge learning experience. Hopefully, all of you can learn from my mistakes and experiences.  My first semester of College I personally have to say was the worst. The whole transitioning from high school to College that itself is pretty brutal but then adding in program and friend drama plus health issues and not being happy? Yeah, pretty fucking crazy first semester. Looking back on the three years that I've had I can safely say that I have been through a lot. Like a shit ton of a lot  But let's start with my first semester. Now, you all must be wondering; program drama? Well I was originally supposed to be enrolled into the Creative Arts program but tran...

Sophie's World: The history of Philosophy By: Jostein Gaarder (Book Review)

Image
This story takes place in a village in Norway. The story follows the protagonist fourteen year old Sophie Amundsen. Sophie finds two questions in the mailbox. "Who are you?" And "Where does the world come from?" Both of these questions lead Sophie on a philosophical journey of a lifetime.  What I liked about this story was that it included everything that you would need to know before entering college; religion, history, philosophy, psychology, and all the incredible minds that we are currently studying (more specifically I'm studying).  I found this book was really helpful in understanding some of the greatest philosophers to have ever lived.  If I would have read this book before starting college all the classes that I had such as; English, ancient philosophy, medieval civilizations, intro to psychology, and critical thinking would have been a lot easier.   The characters were believable and at one point in this story there is supposedly a mirro...

Advice on grades

Image
Grades whether if you are in high school, college, or university are important but how important? I noticed the other day one of my friends was not very happy with the last couple of grades that he received. I saw how down he got and how he started to become depressed in a sense. Not only that but I also had a guy asking me advice on how to balance the school life with everything else. The first thing that I realized is that a grade will not define me as a person. It just won't and I won't allow it. Yes, grades are important but if you are not happy then what is the point? This is YOUR life no one else's. A grade is just a grade. It is a number, that's it. I take my schooling seriously but I have my own study habits. But if I get a bad grade you want to know what I do? I move on!!!! Your health is first and foremost the most important thing to you. Why would you want to sacrifice that for a grade? Does that make sense?  I'm not bashing school in any way sha...

Going to college? Here's some advice!

Image
Going to college seems like the best thing that can happen to a teenager or young adult, right? Well it's more stressful than one can imagine. I entered college or here in Quebec we call it cegep at a mere age of 16. Yup you read that right. At 16 entering college I was a bundle of nerves. And forget about asking a teenager what they want to do for the rest of their lives. I wasn't ready to answer that question. I mean did you know any 16 year old who knew what they wanted to do? Didn't think so. Now I've gone through a whole year of cegep. And let me tell you that year was a roller coaster of emotions. But it doesn't have to be that way. Hopefully by the end of this post you will leave more knowledgeable than before you came across here. Tip #1 Do  not and I repeat do not do more than what you can do. And that means don't join every single club that interests you. The first thing you have to do when going into a new environment is adjusting to it. The ceg...
