Worth Living For (The Morganville Vampires #7.5) By: Rachel Caine (Book Review)

 ***This review will contain spoilers***

Summary:

This short story dates back to the period shortly after Michael turns vampire, and Shane’s still deeply uncomfortable about it. He’s also still picking fights to work off his rage, which never really helps him.

Warning: there’s drinking. And confessions. And secret missions with night vision. Bonus Bishop, and scary battles. Michael and Shane, being heroes together. Which seems about right.

Another great short story! One of the oldest friendships (human friendship) is Shane and Michael. And it was nice having a story of them together, especially, after Michael turning into a vampire their relationship has been strained. Shane hasn't been holding back when it comes to jabbing at Michael about the whole vampire thing but at the end of the day he will have Michael's back and protect him, and vice versa.

I loved the perspective being from Shane's point of view for this story. Claire has had thoughts and feelings of doubt when it comes to herself while comparing to some of Shane's old flames. I absolutely adore the way Shane was describing the way he sees Claire and how much he truly loves her. And I found it so funny that he's a little insecure about Myrnin and Claire's relationship. Clearly, nothing will happen between those two even though lots of people would love to see something happen...myself included (a little tiny bit). It was nice seeing the point of view from both sides of the relationship.

I had the same reaction as Shane when reading that Bishop was still alive. You're telling me this motherfucker who came into town, fucked shit up and killed a bunch of people both vampires and humans wasn't killed yet??? Suspicious as fuck! Why would Amelie allow him to still be alive unless he has information she needs or for sentimental reasons...sorry but if my dad tries to kill me I'm picking me every single time. It was wicked both Shane and Michael teamed up and fought against him. I found it to be retribution that it was Shane who staked him...in the back but still it counts. Bishop put everyone through hell, especially, Claire and Shane staking him felt like he was getting revenge for every including Claire.

Rating:

Obviously, going to give this short story 5 stars on 5! Absolutely, loved this story staring Shane and Michael. I love their friendship and a healing one at that makes everything better in the Morganville town of horrors.
