Another short story from Eve's point of view but this time we see more of Eve's character and inner monologue. In previous books, Eve's unfavourable characteristics started rearing their ugly head. Her flippant behaviour turned up a notch. And normally, I wouldn't care so much but the fact that she would be so brazen and not think things through before acting out in front of strangers which basically could have put her friends lives in danger just made me realize that this wouldn't be the type of person I would want to be friends with or at least close friends.  I can't believe it took this many books into the series to finally see that Eve is a very insecure girl. And she uses her goth outfits to garner attention. It was weird for me to read how in the presence of a new and beautiful girl, Eve sized her up and compared each other. To me that just seemed so weird because you would think growing up around Vampires that she would be used to being around attractive...

Summary: This is about Eve and Michael, and life before and after the fire at Shane's house. All from Eve's point of view.  I have said it before and I will say it again, I love short stories from different character's point of view. I'm so used to reading from Claire's point of view that it's nice to have a new perspective, especially, from a Morganville native like Eve. When we are first introduced to Eve we believe from what Claire thinks that Eve is a badass, fearless and go getter. While most of it is true, what we don't see unless we read from Eve's point of view is how absolutely afraid she is of vampires, her family and her fear for her friends.  Before Claire ever came along there was Shane, Michael, and Eve which even back in high school Eve was crushing hard on Michael as written several different times in this short story.  Summary: A Morganville Vampires short story about Myrnin and how/when he was turned.  Interestingly enough, this short story was only available through Wattpad. I love authors who go out of their way to make it easily accessible for their readers to find and read short stories. I hate when they make it difficult to obtain or it's clearly a money grab.  Myrnin is that one character in the Morganville series that you want to know their whole story. He's so quirky and nutty that you wonder just how he came to be and who would be crazy enough to turn him into a vampire.  I am so happy we got this short story because it truly gave us an insight on his backstory. He was sold by his mother so she could help sustain her other children. His father was a loony which is where he gets his mania side from...probably not the best kind of person to turn into a vampire because it doesn't stop the mental illness from progressing. Give them centuries to live and just how unhinged can...

Well, this story doesn’t answer that, unfortunately, but it does show a little bit of Sam’s history and character. I do plan to write, in detail, a story of Sam and Amelie, and how their romance came to be … but I’m not quite ready yet. This is a little piece of character study that I did to help understand Sam in my mind – who he was, what he felt, how he related to the other characters around him. Michael and Shane, being heroes together. Which seems about right. Another great short story! One of the oldest friendships (human friendship) is Shane and Michael. And it was nice having a story of them together, especially, after Michael turning into a vampire their relationship has been strained.
