Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter (Review)

Image
*This review will contain spoilers* Summary: British Operative Peggy Carter Joins the nascent S.H.I.E.L.D organization in search of the 'Zodiac' key. Agent Carter also battles her misogynistic, bureaucratic Boss, Agent Flynn.  I know that this is meant to be a short film of 15 minutes or less but I thought they would have used up the time effectively. All that really happened was Carter being judged and undermined by Agent Flynn, she ended up going on a dangerous mission by herself to retrieve a vial? After her successful mission, Howard Stark calls through the hotline and asks Agent Flynn to tell Agent Carter she is going to become the head of Shield.  That's it. Nothing else. I have no clue what the heck the Zodiac key is from this one shot. All I know that Agent Carter had a hard time by her fellow colleagues and she kicks ass in the field. If we really wanted to jumpstart something here a little more info on the Zodiac key would have been the best thing to do. Peggy ...

The Incredible Hulk (Movie Review)

Image
***This review will contain spoilers*** Summary: Scientist Bruce Banner desperately seeks a cure for the gamma radiation that contaminated his cells and turned him into the Hulk. Cut off from his true love Betty Ross and forced to hide from his nemesis, Gen. Thunderbolt Ross, Banner soon comes face to face with a new threat, a supremely powerful enemy known as the Abomination.  No matter how many times I've watched this movie I never get bored of it. It's a solid movie through and through and even over a decade later it is still a better movie than some of the newer ones being produced. Now that's saying something!  Edward Norton portrayed Bruce Banner perfectly, he was able to demonstrate his emotional tortured side of the aftermath of the Hulk, while also demonstrating the gentle side of Bruce. He carried the movie well and was a natural! Honestly, the entire cast was amazing. Liv Tyler was beyond gorgeous, brought Betty Ross to life in an amazing manner and wasn't an...

Ironman 2 (Movie Review)

Image
***This review will contain spoilers*** Summary: With the world now aware that he is Ironman, billionaire inventor Tony Stark faces pressure from all sides to share his technology with the military. He is reluctant to divulge the secrets of his armored suit, fearing the information will fall into the wrong hands. With Pepper Potts and 'Rhodey' Rhodes by his side, Tony must forge new alliances and confront a powerful new enemy. Ironman 2 was another great movie and a good sequel to the first Ironman. It had action packed scenes, new characters being introduced and the marvel universe slowly being built. This movie was great but not as great as the first one. I did notice some inconsistencies within the movie which did take away from the experience. I love a movie that is flawless, 'makes sense' to the audience and the story has a natural flow to it. Unfortunately, there were some scenes that I noticed were either rushed or it wasn't as impactful as it should of been...

Ironman (Movie Review)

Image
***This review will contain spoilers*** Summary: A billionaire industrialist and genius inventor, Tony Stark is conducting weapons tests overseas, but terrorists kidnap him to force him to build a devastating weapon. Instead, he builds an armored suit and upends his captors. Returning to America, Stark refines the suit and uses it to combat crime and terrorism.  Opening Scene: Tony Stark and his military entourage get ambushed by a terrorist group using weapons from Stark industries. Tony is the only one left from his group and the terrorists have taken him and don't plan on letting him go.  Ironman is known as the movie that helped set up the Marvel Cinematic Universe and I 100% agree. From start to finish it was a great action packed movie that follows a man on his journey to becoming a hero. For a lot of movies that I've seen and reviewed on my blog there are things that I point out that I feel need to be changed or done completely different and I have nothing for thi...

X-Men: Dark Phoenix (Movie Review)

Image
*This review will contain spoilers* Summary: The X-Men face their most formidable and powerful foe when one of their own, Jean Grey, starts to spiral out of control. During a rescue mission in outer space, Jean is nearly killed when she's hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. The X-Men must now band together to save her soul and battle aliens that want to use Grey's new abilities to rule the galaxy.  There goes 2 hours of my life I'm never going to get back wasted on watching this movie. I don't know why I keep doing this to myself. I think it's because I've invested so much time into watching these movies that I can't give up now or I'm holding on and praying a good X-Men movie is going to come out. But alas this movie misses the mark. From lack of structure in the story to yet again more plot holes. I'm afraid I won't be holding back punches to ano...

Logan (Movie Review)

Image
*This review will contain spoilers* Summary: In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X at a remote outpost on the Mexican border. His plan to hide from the outside world gets upended when he meets a young mutant who is very much like him. Logan must now protect the girl and battle the dark forces that want to capture her.  This movie has garnered a lot of success and has amazing reviews but I just don't get it! I found this movie seriously underwhelming and a big let down. I grew up watching the X-Men movies from the 2000's and I loved them. Over the years there has been a decline in the quality of X-Men movies being produced and the story lines have more holes than Swiss cheese. This movie, unfortunately, is no exception.  X-Men: Days of Future Past  I did quite enjoy overall, however, there were quite a bit of plot holes that were never discussed or even mentioned. And it's not like we will get those answers from the new X-Men movies that feature...

Captain Marvel (Review)

Image
((((Please be warned there will be spoilers)))) Movie Summary: Captain Marvel is an extraterrestrial Kree warrior who finds herself caught in the middle of an intergalactic battle between her people and the Skrulls. Living on Earth in 1995, she keeps having recurring memories of another life as U.S. Air Force pilot Carol Danvers. With help from Nick Fury, Captain Marvel tries to uncover the secrets of her past while harnessing her special superpowers to end the war with the evil Skrulls. The visuals for the opening scene was great and it was captivating up until you realize there was no monologue included. And all the smaller scenes afterwards were just random and chaotic. I understand that Vers aka Carol's mind is chaotic due to the lack of memories but just because the protagonist has a chaotic mind doesn't mean the viewers should have one as well. Personally, I think we should've had Vers/Carol doing a monologue in the opening scene, along the lines of "I ...

Captain America: The First Avenger (Review)

Image
((((Please be advised there are spoilers)))) Movie Summary: Steve Rogers; a weak, sickly young man eager to enlist is repeatedly rejected from the war until a scientist recruits him and transforms him into Captain America. However, it comes at a price when he has to take down a war monger and a terrorist organization.    Opening Scene:  Agents of some kind from Washington are brought in and are inspecting what looks to be an aircraft that was trapped in ice and within it they find Captain America's shield. I had goosebumps watching that scene.  Only with a short few scenes into the movie we can clearly identify all the important qualities that makes up Steve Rogers; respect, honour, humility and has the determination to help out his country as much as he can even if he has to lie to get in the army.  I'm usually not enamored by characters but Steve Rogers is something else altogether. He is smart, selfless and has such a kind heart. Not man...

Deadpool (Movie Review)

Image
(((Will Contain Spoilers))) Summary: This is the origin story of Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) who is a former special forces operative that is currently working as a mercenary. Wilson was subjected to a rogue experiment that left him disfigured, gave him accelerated healing and he adopts his alter ego aka +Deadpool . With help from mutant allies Deadpool will use his new abilities to hunt down the man who nearly destroyed his life. The opening credits definitely demonstrated Deadpool's personality. Before the action started we had Deadpool speak to the audience and tell us how he got starred in his own movie which he indiscreetly mentioned Wolverine. However, when he was in the SUV kicking butt he put a cigarette lighter in one of the henchmen's mouth and said "I've never said this but don't swallow!" OMG!!! I died of laughter I couldn't stop laughing. Ten minutes into the movie and I can't stop laughing. I thought him saying that would be the b...
