Beauty (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter #20.5) By: Laurell K. Hamilton (Book Review)

 ***This review will contain spoilers***

Summary:

You’d think I’d get used to seeing such a beautiful man and knowing he was mine, but it never grew old, as if his beauty and the fact that he was mine, and I was his, would forever surprise me.

With a vampire like Jean Claude around, it’s far too easy for Anita Blake to doubt her own appearance—and the hold it has on those who love her. But one hot tub and two incredibly sexy men—Jean Claude and Asher—will make her feel like the most lusted-after woman alive…or undead. Not bad for a mere human…

This e-book was meant to be a spicy outtake from Kiss The Dead but nothing was really too spicy about it. I've read some of Hamilton's short stories and e-books before and this has got to be the shortest one ever. If anything, I believe this little scene was probably cut during the editing phase an to make a quick buck they released it as a e-book.

Hamilton hasn't been shy about adding unnecessary sexual content and scenes. She has written about Anita having scene with men who are in animal form and even having group sex in front of strangers. So, I'm not sure how this was considered to be a spicy outtake when all Hamilton has been doing is adding 'spicy' scenes in her books that didn't add shit to the story and the plot.

Jean-Claude and Asher are her main vampire lovers so I feel if Hamilton would have done this e-book with a guy we've seen very little of or not much of as of late it would have been received better. We haven't seen much of Nathanial and Damian unless they're dying. I would've liked it better if those two were incorporated instead of Asher and Jean-Claude. It would have added a different level of intimacy that we haven't seen in a while.

Another thing that gets on my nerves is Anita being insecure but also simultaneously being confident about her body. Just pick a lane at this point. We get it! All the guys are hot and beautiful and she doesn't feel like she is on their level. Let's move on from it! I'm tired of the same stupid line being repeated over and over again. It's like we're recycling material at this point.

Rating:

I'm giving this 'e-book' 1 star on 5. This e-book was not worth a couple dollars. I honestly feel like this should have been free cause this little story wasn't a short story and it wasn't any better than the shitty sex scenes Hamilton normally gives us. Don't waste your money.
