True Blood | Season 1 Episode 8: The Fourth Man in the Fire (Review)

((((There will be spoilers in this episode review...you have been forewarned))))

I will admit I have not been a big fan of Sookie's attitude, especially, regarding Bill. But the fact that he might actually be dead makes her act as if she has lost another family member just baffles me. It's just Bill! Is this what love sick teenagers having sex for the first time looks like? Obsessed and down right ridiculous? Sookie's demeanor is beyond ridiculous. What type of person would think to call a vampire during the day and expect them to answer?

I'm really happy that Tara is finally experiencing how a sober mother is because from what we have been shown about her Tara has had a tough upbringing. I just find it funny that it took a possum dying in the middle of a forest for Tara's mom to finally be sober. But what I hate seeing is Bill coming between Tara and Sookie. I hate that Sookie is allowing Bill to alienate her from everyone she knows. But on a different note, Terry saying he keeps a possum's penis as a necklace has got to be the most red neck thing I've ever heard.

Sam was beyond hilarious after he and Tara had sex. From him saying they had sex far more than 10 minutes, now that made me laugh for quite a bit. But I think what was the icing on he cake is Tara saying that Sam was a racist because he said she grunts during sex. And he wasn't wrong in saying that he wasn't racist when he just had sex with her. I loved this scene quite a lot because it's a nice change of pace to what we have been accustomed to. True Blood from what is being shown is about dark themes, murder and sex. Comedy is a great addition to add in during the lighter parts of an episode.

"Sigh" Bill is alive. Hiding away in the ground but still alive. I'm all for having sex but not when his penis is covered in dirt which makes me question why he was naked in the first place? But can we just agree that Eric Northman is the image that comes to mind when we think of a sexy vampire? He is a hunk of a vampire. He easily puts Bill to shame! Bill, however, is not that bad compared to Lafayette's vampire; boring, unattractive and overall lives a very sedentary lifestyle. Although, on a side note how strange is Amy acting? It's quite a sight to see that she is using logic to rationalize her strung up druggy need for V. You can tell she's stalked and kidnapped vampires before. Makes me wonder what her backstory is.

People give Andy a lot of crap but at least he is a thorough detective. But then again in a small town such as Bon Temps there isn't much to detect and investigate. He double checked what Sam said about coming from a family of nudists. Let's be honest here, that was a god damn terrible lie.

How ironic is it that Sookie thrives and enjoys the sun to such an extent and that is something she has to give up to spend time with Bill? Just when I think Sookie cannot get anymore stupid she tops it. She actually has the opportunity to negotiate with Eric about using her ability and she only asks for the guilty party to be brought to the police. She could've asked for money in return to find out who stole 60 thousand dollars from Eric. She did eventually find out who knew who stole the money but could not connect that a vampire glamoured Ginger into forgetting. Our resident Fangtasia bartender LongShadow was the thief and was going for Sookie's neck. Is it bad that I kind of wish to see her hurt? Because her stupidity is most taxing.
