True Blood | Season 3 Episode 2: Beautifully Broken (Review)

***This review will contain spoilers***

This was such a phenomenal episode! There were no dull moments! Bill surprisingly held his own against the pack of werewolves. Have I mentioned that I do not like Bill? Bill was supposedly not abducted but ‘invited’ by the King of Mississippi; Russell Edgington.

Russell abducted Bill to try and learn of Sophie-Anne’s secrets, bring Bill to his cause and help convince Sophie-Anne to marry Russell so they can share territories. Seeing how broke she is…doesn’t sound like such a bad proposition. However, what is most interesting is that Russell’s pack of wolves are the same ones that Eric and Goodrich were hunting during World War II. It was so great seeing Godric again! He seemed like the only one to keep Eric in check and it was devastating when he passed away. I hope to see some more flashbacks with him in it.

Russell obviously sent men after Sookie seeing as how Bill doesn’t have a sense of self preservation. One vampire who trashed Bill’s place and discovers Bill’s stash showing how he has been spying and purposefully targeting Sookie…no surprise here. And of course, a werewolf was sent which Sookie stupidly runs after him as soon as she sees him. See? Lack of self preservation. Those two definitely belong together.

I quite liked the juxtaposition between the supernatural troubles versus the mundane troubles. Sam is off on his own trying to track down his biological family which he does but in all honesty Sam could have been better off on his own without them because they look like trouble. Not to mention that Tommy; his brother inadvertently tried getting Sam run over by an eighteen wheeler while in his dog form. Poor Arlene is in a position that many women find themselves in...being pregnant with someone they have haven't been dating for long. However, Terry is probably one of the only dependable men left in Bon Temps.

Tara just cannot seem to catch a break and it doesn't seem the road will get easier for her. She tried to commit suicide and luckily failed thanks to Lafayette. And just when she hits rock bottom she meet the same vampire that ransacked Bill's house. Nothing but trouble when a pain filled person meets a dangerous vampire.

One scene that had me drop my jaw in surprise is Bill throwing a oil lamp at Lorena when she enters the room. If only we could all do such things without getting arrested.

The episode ends with Eric being invited in to Sookie's house and coming face to face with the werewolf after Sookie. I am so excited for this season!
