Annabelle Comes Home (Movie Review)

 ***This review will contain spoilers***

Summary:

Determined to keep Annabelle from wrecking more havoc, paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren lock the possessed doll in the artifact room in their house. But when the doll awakens the room's evil spirits, it soon becomes an unholy night of terror for the couple's 10-year old daughter, her babysitter and her friends.

Opening scene:

Ed and Lorraine take the Annabelle doll but on the way home their car mysteriously breaks down in front of a cemetery and a spirit tries to kill Ed by pushing him in the path of a truck. The doll is a beacon for spirits and not even a couple of minutes into their artifact room and other spirits were acting out.

This movie was exactly what I was asking for! I always wanted the universe to expand to show more of these old cases that the Warrens worked on in the past and to expand some more on the artifact room. This movie was spot on amazing, had great actors and the story was really good.

Some of the many artifacts that came to life was the Freeley Meeley game, the samurai suit, a hellhound, the ferryman and the bride. I have to say that one of the more chilling scenes in the movie was Daniel being stabbed by the bride spirit only for it to be a psychic and not physical attack. I was convinced that the poor girl was dead but as if that wasn't enough, she ends up getting possessed by the spirit and tries to kill Mary-Ellen and Judy. Judy being such a resourceful young girl she turns on a recording of her father doing a exorcism and that exorcised the bride out of Daniela. That scene alone was so amazing to watch and was really well done. I could watch it again and again.

I was halfway through the movie when I realized that Ed and Lorraine Warren were really side characters and they only did a cameo in the movie. They were only in the very beginning and at the very end. That goes to show just how good of a job those 3 girls did to carry this whole movie. One of the more terrifying scenes is the demon attached to the Annabelle doll attacking Judy and yet again being resourceful and aware of her surrounding protects and frees herself from the demon. All three girls were able to contain the Annabelle doll and the rest of the artefacts.

Rating:

Without a doubt I'm giving Annabelle Comes Home 5 stars on 5. If you haven't watched it then please do. I have to praise all three girls because they carried and executed the shit out of this movie. It had a bunch scares, a good plot and terrific actors. I want to see more of them in future films in whatever capacity because they rocked it.
