Succubus Heat (Georgina Kincaid #4) By: Richelle Mead (Book Review)

 (This review will contain spoilers)

Summary:

Georgina Kincaid has been a bad, bad succubus. . .

. . .which should be a good thing. But lately, thanks to her foul mood over breaking up with bestselling writer Seth Mortensen, she's been so wicked that Seattle's über-demon Jerome, decides to "outsource " Georgina to a rival—and have her spy for him in the process.

Being exiled to the frozen north—okay, Vancouver—and leaving Seth in the cozy clutches of his new girlfriend is unpleasant enough. Then Jerome is kidnapped, and all immortals under his control mysteriously lose their powers. One bright spot: with her life-sucking ability gone, there's nothing to keep Georgina from getting down and dirty with Seth—nothing apart from his girlfriend that is. Now, as the supernatural population starts turning on itself, a newly mortal Georgina must rescue her boss and figure out who's been playing them—or all hell will break loose. . .

This has been the best book yet in the series! It had mystery, old faces, new faces, life altering changes and unfortunately more of Seth. This was so well written and I absolutely loved it. I stayed up super late finishing this book because it was so good and captivating. I just had to keep reading.

While Georgina is on loan to Vancouver to help out with the 'Satanist' human group making a mockery of Evil Jerome ends up getting summoned by a demon-human tag team duo and in consequence every lesser immortal under his rule have lost their abilities. Imps can no longer see humans souls, vampires no longer have the urge to drink human blood and our resident Succubus no longer steals souls while having sex.

Georgina no longer being able to steal souls through sexual acts now means she's entangled in the Seth web yet again. I love independent Georgina that embraces her sexuality and doesn't allow anyone to make her feel guilty for her choices. The crazy part is that even though she can't steal his soul while they had sex during her stasis she still tainted his soul since they basically cheated on their significant others with each other. Georgina believes he's the love of her life but I don't believe that for one second. If they were meant to be they wouldn't bring out the worst in each other. They both deserve someone else who they can be with and live a long life with as well. Their fire does burn white hot but it seems they'll only get burned in the process.

With Jerome being summoned that leaves Seattle in shambles and all the surrounding demons with motives and a taste for power are coming in and trying to make a case to be the new archdemon of Seattle. Some of which being Ninette and Cedric that are from surrounding areas and want to expand their territories. Of course, Georgina playing detective points the finger at both of them and ends up getting the beating of a lifetime at the hands of Ninette. Not only was Georgina brutally beaten but on her quest for information on who summoned Jerome she almost gets raped but each time there is something or someone who is interfering trying to help her out. It doesn't take too long before Roman reveals himself as the savior. I personally want to see these two together. Even though Georgina did pick Seth over Roman, Roman is the best choice. He understands the long life of immortality and just how complicated things can get when being with a Succubus and she doesn't have to worry about hurting him! She can be herself, wouldn't have to hide and wouldn't have to worry about whether he is judging her for doing her job.

With Roman on her side, Georgina is finally on the right track and figures out which demon or demoness was behind Jerome's summoning. Grace was the mastermind all along! The underling of Jerome and co-lieutenant with Mei. Talk about ambition but for a demoness who isn't all that powerful she definitely bit off more than she can chew. For some reason or another we have Dante, Seth, Roman and Georgina at the site of power that is holding Jerome captive. Seth, an invisible Roman and Georgina found the site of power and in the middle of these two schmucks declaring their love for each other  Dante catches them in the act. Personally, I had a feeling he was the summoner. Come on! The previous book it was established he was a extremely powerful psychic and Georgina did not know right away it was him?!?!

I love that we finally got an epic fighting scene! All these powerful creatures and I desperately wanted a cool and epic fight! Grace and Roman were fighting but seeing as how his father is Jerome, I think he was holding back in the fight to make sure he wasn't discovered by any immortals in the area. Mei joins in after Georgina asks Seth to call her in giving her enough time to figure out how to release Jerome from his cell. Once Jerome is released he takes Grace to what one can only imagine be the depths of hell to be severely punished. But once speaking with Roman he gives him amnesty in his territory and Roman decides to shack up with Georgina. I so ship those two together! I truly hope they get together.

With succubus Georgina back in full swing, she finally comes to her senses and decides to stop whatever messy sex thing they had going on. And of course, as if Seth couldn't help himself he proposes to Maddie! Boy has damn near lost his mind. The day Maddie finds out the truth is the day that poor girl will lose all hope for life. On a final good note for Georgina, she ends up finding the exact same cat that was in her dream that Nyx showed could be her future. Maybe her forever after man might not be too far away.

Rating:

I am going to give Succubus Heat 5 stars on 5. It as action packed, full of adventure and mystery. Plus we finally have Roman back! I hope and pray he and Georgina get together as they should. I truly hope that Georgina stays away from Seth and realizes that they are not good for each other.  I was absolutely captivated by this book and definitely cannot wait to read the next book in the series.
