Summary:

When I say that I was on a mission to watch this movie...I'm not kidding! When it first was released in Europe, edits of the movie was all over my social media. I watched countless clips and I had this huge desire to watch it. I have been for the past few months in a season of craving love. I've been reading a ton of love stories and been rewatching quite a few romance movies as well. But this one took the cake!
I have no idea why this movie was so hard to track down but the week it was released in Canada I checked my local movie theatre and of course they didn't have it. And the closest movie theatre that did was over 70 km away...I'm not driving that far for a movie. However, I luckily don't live too far away from a US border and the closest US city from the border had the Dracula movie at their move theatre! I have never been to that movie theatre before but I absolutely loved! It was such a phenomenal vibe and even with the conversion from USD to CAD it ended up being so much cheaper than if I were to have gone to a Canadian movie theater. I loved the experience so much that from now on that's the only movie theatre I want to go to.
The chemistry that the main characters have with each other is out of this world!!! Whoever was in charge of casting I hope they have a cold pillow every night for the rest of their lives. This movie had me on a rollercoaster of emotions. It was funny, heart breaking and absolutely captivated my attention. One of my favourite characters was Maria. The actress absolutely killed it! From her demeanor, facial expressions and the fact that she was able to hold a scene with Christoph Waltz and not have him overshadow her character? It speaks volumes on her talent as an actress. I also loved Christoph Waltz in this movie. Let's be honest, any movie he's in will be phenomenal.
I know that the reason why so many of us truly fell in love with the story is because he was committed to doing whatever is in his power to find his lost love. Us modern day girlies crave passion and romance. Unfortunately, modern day dating leaves a lot to be desired. Now I can only speak from the female perspective when it comes to dating but it is rough out here! Bring back the men that yearned and did anything for the woman they wanted.
I found the whole perfume angle interesting. I felt like it was more of filler scenes than anything else but it was lovely seeing him in different time periods. The gargoyles were honestly so cute! And then seeing how they were children once Dracula passed? Makes me happy that they didn't wither away along with him.
It was a beautiful journey of seeing their love to then his journey finding his love again in a new time and age. Mina had echoes of a previous life that kept presenting itself in her everyday life. It was beautifully tragic to see the lost lovers reconnect after centuries apart. I thought the most selfless thing he could have done was sacrifice himself so as not to forsake her soul in the eyes of God. This man turned his back on God because he lost his love and when he finally is reunited with her, sacrifices himself so as not to forsake her and that she may enter God's kingdom when it is her time...that emotionally moved me so deeply that I was crying at the end of the movie. That is a true man that leads and I pray to have that quality in my future husband.
Rating:
I'm giving this amazing movie 5 stars on 5! I absolutely loved it and I can easily rewatch this movie several more times.
