Shopping My Stash | Nail Polish Edition Part. 2
I have received quite a few nail polishes in my Ipsy glam bag (subscription service) over the years and many of them are just sitting, not being used. To be fair, I haven't bought nail polishes other than top coats in yearsssss but I have bought press-on's and nail dip powders in between my nail polish purchases to see if I would have a easier time maintaining my nails and manicures.
Clearly, I'm taking a break from those and am trying to use what I have, especially, what is old and unfortunately, most of my nail polishes are old. The month of August has been a crazy and eventful one for me. I've had to attend a few weddings and important dinners so my priority was a nail polish that would look sleek and presentable while also complimenting my outfits.
The nail polish I used for this month was House of Makeup nail polish in flat white-20 which I did receive in a Ipsy bag. I looked up House of Makeup and I wasn't able to find any nail polishes on their website. Looks like their nail polish making days are long over.
Flat white is giving off more of a neutral/beige color than a slightly off white color. I will say that I absolutely love the color. It pairs well with my complexion and love how it looks. The issue I have with it is how incredibly difficult it is to apply multiple coats of polish. I'll apply my first coat and wait for it to dry. And I typically wait between 10-20 minutes before applying the next coat but as soon as I would apply the second coat it would take forever to completely dry. And even waiting an hour plus the polish would still be malleable. Which is really annoying and the first coat itself is not opaque enough where I can just do a single coat.
I tried to prep my nails as much as possible before application and it did last me a good while. I could go almost a week without any chipping but the application portion is just so damn annoying that it takes away from the experience. I am happy that I did use up a good portion of the nail polish up since I had to re-do my nails once a week. But I will gladly put this aside for the foreseeable future.
