True Blood |Season 2 Episode 10: New World In My View (Review)

*This review will contain spoilers*

Opening scene:
Sookie dreams of going to Eric right after Godric passes away. They get all hot and heavy. Right when he is about to bite her she wakes up. As I previously mentioned in the past review, it goes to show the effects of what vampire blood can do.

I genuinely loved this episode and laughed quite a bit. This episode wasn't overly packed with events. It was more of one of those episodes that tend to set up the end of the season.

Jason once again surprises me when he takes charge and goes out to see what is going on in Bon Temps and he makes it his mission to stop it. I think it was genius of him to pretend to be the 'god who comes' to save Sam from the crazy townspeople. I like that his character is being utilized a lot more instead of the ex jock/ horny douchebag. I would love to see him as some type of law enforcement figure. I think he would honestly excel at that, especially, since he's fast on his feet and is resourceful.

The star of this episode is Mrs. Fortenberry! She's got the crazy eyes from Maryann's influence, her trying to seduce Jason was hilarious to watch. But nothing tops her playing Wii having a grand old time.

I like that they had light funny moments sprinkled throughout the episode, it helped to offset the more darker/serious tones. From everything we've seen, vampires are at the top of the supernatural food chain. But seeing Bill getting poisoned by Maryann's blood after biting her shows that as a Maenad she is more powerful than vampires. She had no fear when being face to face with him. Obviously, he's not the first vampire she has come across but she had no idea what Sookie was. A burst of light came out of her hand when she tried pushing Maryann away from her.

At the end of the episode we see Bill entering a compound to see the queen to get more information on what Maryann is and how to stop her. I love that the supernatural world keeps expanding in True Blood. It definitely keeps things interesting.
