Goddess Of Legend (Goddess Summoning #7) By: P.C Cast (Book Review)
***This review will contain spoilers***
Summary:
Saved from a car accident by the Water Goddess, photojournalist Isabel visits the time of King Arthur to seduce Lancelot du Lac away from Queen Guinevere.
What a terrible way to end what was otherwise a phenomenal book series. The first few books in the series definitely got me hooked but then I noticed a decline in quality of writing making my way through the series which leads me to this crapfest. The start of the book was so promising but then there was no development of character or plot.
I was originally excited to crack this book open and get on my reading journey because the previous book, Warrior Rising, ended with the protagonists heading to an island called Avalon which I was thinking they would make a cameo in this book but alas...guess she couldn't find a way to tie it in like she could with all the other books in the series.
This had so much potential to be the best book in the series but it was like Cast lost all inspiration and instead of ending the series with a bang she ended it with me slamming the book shut and being happy she didn’t continue writing this series. It doesn’t even feel like the same writer!
How can one start with an amazing idea and then end it like everything is okay and the main character farts rainbows and shits butterflies and can’t do no wrong. I’m sorry for being so crass but I was definitely catfished and or…definitely lied to. She should have left Warrior Rising as her last book in the series instead of letting this shit be printed. I’ve read more fan fiction/wattpad stories with better story development and actual plot than this.
We started off great with Isabel being dropped into Camelot and instead of seducing Lance she gets almost immediately into bed with King Arthur…okay not bad, she wrote him all rugged and hot. BUT she’s essentially committing adultery but that’s okay since Arthur knows Gwen and Lance have been fooling around. The couples know of each other and instead of giving us drama Cast has them clapping each other on the back and braiding each others hair.
I'm honestly so disappointed that there was no conflict. It made it to be such a boring read. I was so disappointed that Isabel had such a 'perfect persona' going on that everyone including the moody son fell in love with her. I personally would have made Queen Guinevere a manipulative character to add some flair and drama. The Queen seeing she is losing her hold on King Arthur tries to poison Isabel and stages a coup led by Lance when she sees Arthur is very much wanting to dissolve their marriage. That sounds infinitely better than whatever this shit was. And you know how long it took for me to brain storm that idea? Less than 5 minutes.
Rating:
I'm sad to say this is getting 1 star on 5. When I can easily come up with a better story and am rush reading through this disaster to just end it...you know it's bad. I loved the majority of the books in this series but alas it explains why this one is the last one.
