Shutdown (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter #22.75) By: Laurell K. Hamilton (Book Review)

Image
***This review will contain spoilers*** Summary: An Anita Blake short story, featuring our favorite bad boy werewolf, yep,  Richard Zeeman. He’s been working his therapy: read on to see the results that hard work and being brave enough to own your whole self can get you. What was even the point of this short story? This just demonstrated how out of touch Hamilton is with her audience. From Anita flaunting herself and degrading Richard's fiancé to the whole tone of the story just being passive aggressive and overall just fucking stupid.  This was supposed to be a sit down lunch between Anita, Micah, Richard and his fiancé Ellen to help her understand why Richard needs to continue having sex with Anita... yeah doesn't that just sound stupid? The first chapter alone Anita is already comparing herself to Ellen and letting us know just how much better she is. From her hair being darker and her being physically fitter than Ellen...ugh get off your high horse.  The first c...

Dancing (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter #22.5) By: Laurell K. Hamilton (Book Review)

***This review will contain spoilers*** Summary: For most people, summer barbecues are nothing to be afraid of. But Anita isn’t exactly plain vanilla—and neither is her love life. So it takes a special kind of courage to attend a barbecue thrown by her friend Sergeant Zerbrowski. Walking into a backyard full of cops and their families with wereleopards Micah and Nathaniel both looking gorgeous on her arm won’t be easy, even with almost-four-year-old Matthew Vespucci to break the ice…Anita is determined to have a good time with her family, just like everyone else. But it doesn’t take long for tensions to rise among the adults and kids. And Anita will learn that gossip and innuendo can be just as dangerous as anything the undead can throw at her… I hate e-books because it's just a short story that doesn't add anything to the main story and it's a way for them to make a quick buck. I personally feel that short stories should be shared on author's or publisher sites for fr...

NYC | Kohl Brow/Eyeliner Pencil (Review)

Image
Product Summary: The NYC brow and liner pencil make lining and defining brows and eyes quick and easy. Special formula is soft enough to easily fill in brows yet firm enough to prevent smudging, and running. Cost around $10. Colour in 921 Jet Black.  ***Not cruelty free*** I can understand and appreciate dual use items but, unfortunately, Jet black is just too dark for my brows. For the purpose of this review, I will be reviewing this strictly for eyeliner use. I love using eyeliner to define my eyes and make them pop but if I can't easily apply eyeliner it'll become the bane of my existence.  The application process could use improvements to say the least. It doesn't apply on smoothly and tugs on the skin which skin around the eyes should be well taken care of since it's so thin and sensitive. Eyeliner tugging on the skin is not a good thing.  I love doing winged eyeliner looks and it's nearly impossible to do with this liner pencil since it's not creamy enoug...

First Aid Beauty | Ultra Repair Cream Intense Hydration (Review)

Image
Product Summary: An all-over moisturizer that provides instant relief and long term hydration for dry, distressed skin and eczema. First aid beauty's ultra repair cream whipped texture is instantly absorbed with no greasy after feel. Cost: around $50 Varies per size  I ended up receiving this cream in a Ipsy glam bag which is a monthly beauty subscription service where you get 5 items from sample to full size for around 20$ Canadian. Click  here to check them out.   ***Cruelty free*** I'm picky when it comes to skincare so I like to take my time when it comes to reviewing skincare items. I've reviewed first aid beauty in the past and it has done well on my skin. This product was no exception. I thoroughly believe in keeping my face and neck as moisturized as possible to reduce age + wear and tear. I don't tend to wear face makeup so a good moisturizer is my pick me up for good skin.  This has been one of the best moisturizers that I have tried in a long while. ...
