True Blood |Season 2 Episode 9: I Will Rise Up (Review)

Image
***This review will contain spoilers*** This episode started with a bang. The bomb that Luke had strapped on himself went off and a few vampires and humans died. This episode was extremely depressing but also didn't make sense in certain areas.  Starting off with Bon Temps, things are definitely heating up! Maryann is on the hunt for Sam and has enlisted the townspeople to find him and bring him to her. Sam ends up finding Andy, seeking his help and I'm curious how those two will team up together. I love that Lafayette and Tara's mother went to Sookie's house to have an intervention/ to abduct Tara. Honestly, it was the best thing they could do considering her and Eggs were attacking them. Gotta say Lafayette knows how to kick some ass! Still my favourite character!  Even during a crisis Eric is still self-serving. He tricks Sookie into drinking his blood by having her suck the silver bullets out of him. Of course, Bill was not thrilled. He said that even though she con...

True Blood |Season 2 Episode 8: Timebomb (Review)

***This review will contain spoilers*** What a crazy and intense episode! Every scene was on point and there was not a lull in this episode. It just kept you wanting more and seeing what will happen next. I liked that it kept switching from different characters so it kept us engaged and interested.  I wasn't a huge fan of Eric 'sacrificing' himself for Sookie. He normally would do what's best for himself but that manipulation tactic was targeted towards Sookie and it worked! And it's hilarious how gullible she is. Then Bill stalks in like a true vampire should; threatening to kill everyone. I hope Sookie opens her eyes when it comes to him, he's not what he seems.  The star in the whole episode is Jason! I think he might actually be maturing and evolving. One thing he has always been consistent in is protecting his family. I loved seeing him getting aggressive and turning into Rambo to protect his sister. Even him apologizing to Bill for how he treated him in th...

Micah (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter #13) By: Laurell K. Hamilton (Book Review)

***This review will contain spoilers*** Summary: There are lots of reasons to raise the dead-some private, some public. In this case, the feds have a witness who died before he could speak on the record. They want him raised so his testimony can be taken. So here I am, on a plane to Philadelphia, flying off to do my job. But I'm not alone. Micah is with me. Micah, head of the St. Louis wereleopard pard. King to my Queen. The only one of my lovers who can stir my blood with just a glance from his chartreuse cat's eyes. I was happy to have him at my side. Until he mentioned that this will be our first time alone together. No Master Vampire. No Alpha Werewolf. Just me and Micah. And all my fears and doubts... Not sure if someone told Hamilton to chill with all the crazy extreme sex scenes but we were only subjected to one sex scene in this book, if we can really call it a book. Hamilton's books normally range from 400-700 pages per book but this one was less than 250 pages. T...

The New Mutants (Movie Review)

Image
***This review will contain spoilers*** Summary: Five teenage mutants; Mirage, Wolfsbane, Cannonball, Sunspot and Magik undergo treatments at a secret institution that will cure them of their dangerous powers. Invited by Dr. Cecilia Reyes to share their stories, their memories soon turn into terrifying realities as they start to question why they're being held and who's trying to destroy them.  Jeez, another X-Men movie that just misses the mark. Great concept, terrible execution. I like the idea of the new mutants being introduced on the big screen but there was a huge missed opportunity. This movie should have been taken and utilized to set up the future of the X-Men universe. These X-Men movies have honestly been all over the place that it's hard to keep track on who is alive and which storyline we should be following.  I like the new mutants that were picked for this movie but I would have done a lot more than what were given. The movie felt too bland. There wasn't ...
